Afternoon
Now we all know what happened in the Summer .....Between his agent , the media and a certain London club the poor little chap didn't know what was happening and probably was so confused he didn't know what day of the week it was ........So no surprise that whilst the window was open he was like a headless chicken..................
What the hell happened in between the window closing and the next game we played ???????????
There can only be two explanations .....
1....He simply realised he loved playing football and just had to accept the contract he already had
2.....His agent and Levy got together and came up with a deal
TBH I'd go with the second option but that then leads us to ...What kind of deal ????????
Perhaps it may be all based on CL qualification with a written guarantee of a pay rise if we make it or a transfer if we don't
Whatever it was it seems to have worked and his joy on the pitch is there for all to see , don't look like a player held against his will to me
Modric in the Autumn !!!!!!

@ South London Spur.
I'd take Jose, I was talking to a few people in the Bell and Hare when he originally left Chelsea and I was saying I'd take him back then. Yet, as you say, I don't think we can afford him, but we might offer him a challenge. Lets see how good a manager he really is.
I had thought of Capello, but the same issue came with me that you have with his English, I would be interested to know how good it really is because it seems to be varied at times. Still worth a look at though, and lets be fair, his record for England is still top notch. Take away the world cup itself and he has a strong record.
the question has to be asked was he at fault for the world cup, or was it down to players revolt over the decaptaining of Terry, and just how much did that effect the players.
Personally we played badly, but the players need to accept responsibilty for that just as much as he does, but if they weren't in the right frame of mind because of the ongoings of other things he could do a good job with us.

@ Park Lane Geezer, yeah I think the Jol saga was a low point, though If memory recalls the players were starting to become chunkier and not in the good way. The way that it was handled was very poor, but I think (I hope) that Levy learnt a lot from that debacle and it will see us better in the future.
However, with hindsight, could you realistically now see Jol as the man to take us into the CL on a regular basis, or was he just slightly short of what was needed. I tend to think he took us as far as he could, and whilst we were so close, we just didn't push on the following season. He rested on his laurals a bit and I think that was why the change came about.

Yeah, I think the reason England are a poor international team is that compared to other countries, we dont deal well with pressure. This is IMO the single biggest reason for our constant failures. The players ARE good enough IMO, they just can't do it when the pressure is at its highest. Look at our penalty conversion rate compared to the Germans. If that isn't an indicator of a lack of calm under pressure I don't know what is. I can't claim to know the reason for it, but as a people, we seem to fold under pressure at key moments. Embarrassing to say though it is.
Capello has proved he is a superb manager. He has won countless titles. At the moment I'd say he is my number 1 realistic choice for the job. Though I'm not sure he like england very much...

I don't think anyone can realistically say that Capello wouldn't do a good job, but the bigger issue is whether he wants to remain in England. Im guessing the answer would be no, but we can always hope that he comes back and shows the FA what they actually missed out on.
I think he would also be someone that the players would think is a good replacement, certainly players like Modric should be happy with him, keeping this team together is hugely important, and I think that Capello could be the glue that keeps it together.

31 moments, (got your name right this time) yeah hindsight is a wonderful thing as is the success we are currently enjoying which is probably the reason the whole MJ saga is now a non issue. On reflection I think I would agree that he took us as far as he could and we benefitted with having Harry as manager.
The Martin Jol years were a significant part of the achievements we are enjoying today and his place in our history will be remembered with thanks and affection.

@ Park Lane Geezer, a second is still a moment so its all good.
Jol indeed was the start of what we currently have, Harry took over where Jol left off (minus a huge blip in between). without one you wouldn't have the other, Chicken and egg kinda thing.
Jol does indeed go down as a legend in my eyes, he was key to turning us around to where we are now, I will always respect and wish the best for him, until we play against him. Its been a good few years to be a Tottenham supporter.

31 moments, it has been good the last few years let's hope the next few years are even better. Winning the PL title would be a dream come true but it feels good to have a team that you can believe have a chance of one day doing it.
