The Board have undermined Wenger!!!!

When Arsene Wenger earlier in the season said by selling Nasri and Fabregas one could not call himself a big club, he was directing that to the board. It seems the current owner and the board have thrown Wenger under the bus. Wenger is by far our greatest ever manager, no doubt, but the recent bad results are not his fault especially when his hands is tied behind him and he is expected to make miracles happen.

He is forced to work with average players while he has no choice but to play inexperienced rookies instead. The selling of Gael Clichy was not only dumb, but irresponsible, especially when we have to go and buy another player to fill his spot.

IMO, the team is lacking moral for lack of investment while they watch top players leave without a fight from the club. At the same time, the board undermines any gains by actually encouraging players to run down their contracts in anticipation of huge pay off, sad but true.

The clubs outdated pay structure is already gonna cost us RVP, how the best player by far in the league could not be paid his dues is baffling. Now we must realise it is not Wenger but the current owner (Kroenke) who, could not even spare five minutes after becoming majority owner to at least give us his plans for future. It is arrogance like that that is destroying the unity of fans, manager and the players.

Moreover, it seems like Wenger has decided to teach the board a lesson and believe me Wenger will not lose this fight, since the fans will back him, all he has to do is talk honestly to the fans about the battle within. Arsene is a proud man and won't like to be seen acting rebeliously but he is already acting very peculiar lately.

If anyone closely observes the lineups and subs in recent games, you might have noticed Wenger is playing mind games with the board. Don't get me wrong, he will help us to fourth, but the Board should not expect Wenger to create miracles and making them profits at the expense of our season.

It is clearly apparent that Wenger wants the board to panic with bad results short term so they will be forced to change stance. The players respects the manager and are fighting for him but these players need reinforcement and some of them deserve pay rise and unless the board budge, Wenger has to walk or talk. The fans must wake up and smell the coffee, we are sinking fast with no expactation and our moral is also low, we need to speak in unison like Liverpool once did or like United's stance against the Glazers.

The notion that Wenger does not receive the money to buy good players is ridiculous, in my opinion. He spent roughly £50million in the summer, it is clear that without David Dein his signings have been shambolic.

yeah he spend £50, after recouping £70m in sales

It doesn't matter what he brought in, are you honestly telling me that he has spent £50million wisely?

@Gunnerbegood: I was at a Q&A with lee Dixon a couple of years ago and he actually confirmed that Wenger let the defenders get on with their job, opposite to Graham who practiced defence on a daily basis. We make the same defensive mistakes for years, no matter who was playing.
However, today's defeat is not the defeat of the board, it is the defeat of the players who did not show up, they were outplayed and outfought. And it is the defeat of the manager who was not able to motivate the players and to set up the appropriate game plan (if there was any).

It's really doesn't matter if he gets in £70 million if he can then go and waste £50 million of it

It's not a justification if he has wasted the cash, the players he did spend £50 million have delivered virtually nothing for the club

Complete panic buying despite Wenger been aware that the club was going to lose Fabregas and probably Nasri

He was indecisive then panicked.

If you look at Mertesacker, Kos & Vermeulen Wenger has spent £27/28m on CB's in the last couple of years but the defence looks consistently porous

Of course it matters, it's not easy to improve the squad year on year and be asked to make a profit at the same time. Which is why it took City and Chelsea about half a billion each to become a top club. This isn't the SPL mate, Championship players won't win us the title.

Spot on, mate.

Considering Wenger had to fill several positions, he spent the money quite wisely. It was always going to be a struggle though this season.

Then why was your biggest transfer a Championship player?

Your quality may be reduced, but let's be honest, Chelsea have got worse and so have Man Utd.

nonsense tbh, that's just rehashing what we hear in the media but not the thoughts of Arsenal fans who know our problems lie elsewhere.

I agree, our defense has been a shambles for the past 5 seasons and it's not entirely down to personnel though we've had some donkeys playing in there. There's no pressing or any discipline in midfield, with players like Song being given the license to attack, which badly exposes our defense everytime.

Think about this, we've lost countless times to United over that past 5 seasons and 90% of the goals we've conceded against them have been an action replay of each other, if that's not bad management then what is?
