Town head into this game on some big changes made by our chairman from our last encounter against Sheffield United.
Welcome to Simon Grayson who has been given the job of steering Town out of this god forsaken League.
Come 5pm on Saturday Town hopefully will be in 3rd place in the divison , 4 points behind United, wishing desperatly for a Sheffield Wednesday win in their big local derby.
Whilst this is Grayson's first game in charge of the Terriers, his counterpart from Exeter, Paul Tilsdale takes charge of his 300th game.
Exeter have won their last 2 games, against Bury & more impressivley coming from behind against Sheffield Wednesday.
First Meeting League Division 4 06/12/1975 Town lost 1-0 at Leeds Road,
Last Meeting 15/10/2011 St James Park , Exeter 0 Town 4, ( that will do again )
Team news............ Town, fully fit squad apart from Peter Clarke & Tommy Miller who are both recovering from double hernias.
Exeter, ........ same team as beat Bury.
Exeter will arrive at the Galpharm with great belief after winning here last season.
The pressure is on Mr Grayson from the start, he knows it, we know it, lets get behind him & the team,
Town's team will be interesting, will he bring in players from the dark & cold, ie, Joey, Kay, what will he do with the midfield, ?
We have massive couple of months coming up, can we end February with 2 wins against, Exeter, then Stevanage, followed by March which has 21 points available to us. !!
UTT !!
Good luck Simon !!!
Oh & Jordan..................... find those scoring boots again !!

hydy..if we fail to play and get involved in a game of kick and chase and attrition, we wont win..
anything else and we certainly have a chance..

Can't remember last time Stevenage scored a goal...3 points easy on tuesday..don't think it'll be a dirty game either...not seen one of their players booked for weeks..
We just play our game, and we'll win..

Where is Bootsie with his thoughts this evening?

First things first:
We went 1-0 up and didn't stop going for a second. We didn't play brilliantly but we didn't accept a 1-0 1in either, we kept going until we eventually got the 2nd that killed the game off. That was the most important thing for me today, Grayson even made some positive changes to go for the 2nd goal whereas Clark would have left things as they were and hoped to hang on to a 1-0 win (22 points dropped from winning positions). If we do this more often we'll win plenty of games between now and the end of the season.
Now, thoughts in no order:
- Hunt played very well yesterday, but I wouldn't have argued if the MOTM award had gone to Ward or McCombe either - both played very well. McCombe has come into his own again and Ward had probably his best game of the season, even if his end product wasn't always right he did the right things and defended very well, his brilliant tracking run in the first half will help his cause with the fans.
- McCombe and Morrison look solid together.
- Lee had a pretty poor game, nothing really went right for him but he wasn't awful, we didn't exactly play to suit his strengths either. Novak looked sharp when he came on and if we're going to play football on Tuesday night should probably start.
- Smithies had a good game, needs to work on his communication as he caused a couple of minor problems early doors but his distribution was outstanding. I also like that we threw it out and played from the back a lot more.
- Rhodes finish was good for the goal and he got into a few decent positions, we could have won it a little earlier had he took one of his earlier chances, but a decent game none the less.
Now:
Gobern and Robinson, both awful AGAIN. Robinson doesn't affect the game in the slightest and a 2 minute period where he seems involved and made 2 decent challenges doesn't change that. Gobern gives the ball away more than any other player in recent memory, he avoids the easy ball too much and tries a silly pass that he isn't good enough to execute. Both were awful, very bad, no distribution and non existent as teams just walk through us in the middle of the park, had Exeter been a bit better they would have created a few chances in the first half.
Joey looked decent in his cameo, he wanted the ball and wasn't afraid to play quick short passes, creating more space in the middle of the park before we could get it out wide. He always came short for the ball and used it much better than Gobern had been doing. He also seemed to be dictating what Gobern did and Gobern noticeable improved. It seems clear to me that Gobern could be a decent player but needs someone next to him to tell him what to do for 90 minutes, because he only ever looks half decent next to either Johnson or now Joey. Joey certainly put himself above both in the pecking order for me.
Where were Woods and Higgingbotham?
