you cant help but feel excited for saturday i just hope the players can snap out of the way theyve been playing and play the style grayson wants. youd expect so on their radiculous wages.

dont think exeter will have a prayer on sat.

Any thoughts on a Captain? I think it's obvious but what's anyone else think?

Anyone go to the Q and A last night? Did anyone ask Grayson if he still thinks McCormack is a better player than Rhodes?

I read all the answers on twitter, they came across really well. Hopefully the atmosphere will be better around the club and stadium now.

No hydy I didn't nick it , Short & sweet, & yes I did for get the team, simply because I don't have a clue who will play !!

Anyone up for the Stevanage thread seen as ( very kindly ) Darn, made me the matchday co-ordinator !

I don't follow Leeds close enough to make any judgement on his managerial ability but think he comes across really well with straight answers. I watched the game back he covered when we were on TV and he made alot of sense.

Worr a wonderful thread Wetherby .. Well done buddy and if our Management and Team put in an equally Good Performance on Satday then we're All of us Winners ..

No Boooothy Captains not at all obvious to me .. So I'd love to hear your thoughts on this as well as others ..

For Captain Boots, very obvious i know, but he has to be in the starting 11. How many players do we have who will definately start? Only 2 in my opinion and Jordan Rhodes is no leader.

Alex Smithies is the best player to come through the Town ranks in years, better than my hero Andy Booth in my eyes. He's what makes the defence look organised isn't shy to hand out some b llokings. He's had his time as a youngster and it's time now to step up and lead by example.

BTW Boots i'm not saying dump Clarke, lets just let him get fit any win his place back.

Kay will be in if he is fit and he will be Larrys captain. Joey G should be atleast on the bench, Hopefully we will see the side "going for it" from the off, And after half time, No more of whatever Clark used to feed them which 99 times out of a 100 seemed to make us lethargic.

Excellent Boooothy ~ If only because its a contentious choice and one many will have a very different opinion on (Brycie for sure) as indeed would I ..

My Captain .. Leader .. Commander in Chief (if you like) always sits in either Centre Back or Centre Mid Position .. and SO IF his Fitness Levels are up to it and only He n Grayson will know that ? ? ? Then I would Encourage Joey Good G to step up to the plate ~ (I've met the guy over long dinner and found him to be both Educated & Eloquent) which are useful attributes to the role of Captaincy ..

Obviously he needs to be able to Play Well as Well .. He deffo owes Huddersfield Town a Performance .. I'm hoping ~ Whether it be this week or next he'll get such a chance and that if he does he'll take it with both feet ..

I did say a while ago that if Joey was handed the armband it may just be the spark that ignites him to show his potential, But it aint gonna happen Boots, Not after being shunned for the last 6 months. As for Keepers being leaders, Am not a fan, Very few can be El capitano and you have to be a very good keeper with a massive personality and bags of experience, Zoff and Chilavert were, But they were a different class.

PS: Boooothy ..

I'm sure there are Great Examples of Goalie Captains .. ? ? ?

Nevertheless the benefits of being able/free to run around the pitch offering your players Encouragement or Bawl outs ~ An Elbow in the Ribs here a Squeeze of the Backside or Rollocks there~ Surely means goalie captains are at a serious disadvantage in such a role ..

Also if the team aren't firing and the Big Boss man in the dugout ain't a Warnock or O'Neill then its up to the Centre Back Captain to Grab the ball .. Charge Straight Up The Centre Of The Pitch .. Knock Down TWO Brick Walls to get through it .. Have a ffff shot and then turn round to the rest and Shout .. C'mon You Bl.... Soft Pudding fff k r s .. (or words to that effect, you get me) .. Lets Get Some Bloo d n Spirit into it and Get It On ..

And t b fair ~ I've actually seen Peter Clarke do that ..

Bryce i agree about Kay. I seem to have been a lone voice calling for Kay to play in midfield. In recent years, apart from Collins, he has been the only players been willing/able to go past the strikers and look like scoring a goal. What's curious is i have seen Miller do it for other clubs.

As for Joey, i'd love to be wrong, but i don't think he will play another game of football anywhere. I think he was long past it when we signed him, not that a i think he was ever that good. He has got his last big pay packet and happy to just collect the wage hence not going anywhere on loan. Just another Lucketti, the exact type of player Clark told us he would not sign.

Unlike others on here Boots i still think Peter Clarke is the man when fit. He is everything a captain should be. Funny how short people's memory is. I remember posting that Clarke should be dropped 2 years ago and was generally shouted down. You are the only one on here who has stuck by him and got the same opinion now as you did then.

Calamity Clarke should not be in the team before McCombe or Morrison even when fit. Watch Morrison tomorrow stay on his feet, whilst knowing in the same situation Clarke would be on his harris commiting another foul

posted on 24/2/12

How about Mcombe as captain, really shove it up Clark that!

posted on 24/2/12

Clarke tries to win everything, the top defenders know when to go for the ball and when to just jockey the player where they want them.

I thought Morrison was poor Tuesday after 2 good games.

posted on 24/2/12

Morrison was quite poor on Tuesday, but the goal never came from his mistake. Like I said Booooothy, just watch him not make the basic errors that Calamity makes in the same 90 mins

I think you're being a bit harsh on Joey...

thing is LC never knew what style he was going to play..he'd wake up one morning with an idea...ferret around for players who'd fit in with it, convince Deano this was the business..bring 'em in, get 'em indoctrinated...then wake up next morning with another idea...scrub all that deano, I'm going to play this way now..and the guys we need are so and so... And on it went, that's why we've ended up with so many players hanging around or released...LC and his 'dreams'...

If SG can sort out a way to play, that accommodates what we've now got , he'll be a blooming marvel...I wish him luck.

Joey is a decent player when we play football, the problem is he isn't much use when we don't because he's not strong in the tackle and unfortunately doesn't seem to care much of the time. That being said, he isn't as bad as Miller or Robinson and based on recent performances is still miles ahead of Gobern as well. He deserves a chance but I wouldn't just throw him back in, maybe try him from the bench and see how he gets on. Grayson at least says that his attitude seems to be right.

Tomorrow...

Smithies
Hunt McCombe Morrison Woods
Arfield Johnson
Ward Higgingbothom Roberts
Rhodes

Nice to see you commenting Casz .. you always paint a clear picture and yeah I'd certainly like to see if Joey & even one or two other out of Clark favours Can actually Cut it when given a fresh remit ..

I mean IF ONLY to determine whether they've gotten a future with us or not.. Clark was such a Talent Stifling Git (lets be kind, tho I'm not sure why we should, he mightn't even have Re Alized it) He reduced some Good Town Lads to folks who wanted nowt much more than to be away ..

It's Essential Grayson finds out who can do what and moves on those that cannot soon as .. I can't hide my mixture of relief & anticipation of some Smart Things to come .. I Sooooo Wish the guy well .. Even to the point of factoring in some slack for him to withstand a couple o losses ..

One Gorgeous thing I did spot on Tues was that Smithies (when fit n well) has a bright future ahead.. Good Luck to you lad no matter how far and who with you go ..

Winchy (Winchester) and Marco in particular (also Capital if he's on there) as I Miss their point of views badly .. and I'm confid Ant if they know where I am they'll get involved ..

If Mirf continues to sulk (Tho fa shure he'll be back) Marco is a great Stats replacement .. Have you prompted Kindo via Twitter that we're in need of his input too .. C'mon Inter .. Fresh Start an'all .. Lets Get This Ja606 SHOW on the road eh ..
