Rangers newco in English league?

We all know both Old Firm have been casting longing looks at the English leagues and would desire to play there.

I think that if Rangers were to phoenix then it presents a fabulous opportunity to lobby the English F.A. to allow us to start in the lower English leagues and play for promotion to the PL.

I think it would give the fans something to back the team with and allows us to accept the history of our club and the break that phoenixing would create.

We could start with a clean slate and have a long term plan to see the glorious Rangers competing at the top-table down south.

This seems best for everyone, Lawell can implement his plan of growth without Rangers and we can focus on our future?

Thoughts?

the OF were lobbying to join the PL, albeit restructured, with a PL1 and PL2. The only chairman to give his backing was the bolton chairman.

there are plently of matches that give rise to policing issues in the PL, hell swansea play an english team every week.

i agree that the FA do not want us in our current format but if rangers newco were to acquire an english clubs registration in the lowest league available i can't see how the english FA could refuse given we would be a new club

Let's see if this happens but one thing I know for sure either way if you go into liquidation it's going to be a very very long time before Rangers are back in Europe which is were the money is. Your kidding yourself if you think this will happen, but knock yourself out if you think diffrent.

Paisley for Rangers to start all over again is going to cost the new owners alot of money, because just say you did start in the lower English league there is no guarentee you would be promoted every year which would cost a club like Rangers, yes I hear you say you would have no debts but the same time you would have very little coming in.

The bottom line I am sticking by what I said this will never happen

I thought the only stiucking point to the Old Firm moving to England was that the clubs wanted to enter in at the Premier League or Championship level?

If a new Rangers co was willing to join League 2 I think it could well be considered. The fact it's in Scotland means little... Welsh teams play in England so why not Scottish?

It is possible - though I don't think likely.

I would accept the demotion to the third division if that's what it came to with liquidity.
I would also still follow the Gers if the small chance came up to move to the bottom tier of the English leagues.
I would expect attendances to drop though and it would take us a long, long time to get back to where we were even a season ago.
Bear in mind the revenues on offer in the Scottish 3rd division and the English second division...we may have the fanbase, but the level of player we will be able to attract will be mediocre at best, and what sort of ticket prices can we justify to play the likes of Peterhead and Alloa?
A few people don't realise how grim it could be and are banking on promotion 3 seasons in a row, but the reality may not reflect that hope...

It will not happen and this is pure fantasy by both Celtic and Rangers supporters, it is pure delusional!

One of the most established clubs in English Football, Everton, proposed an idea to allow their reserves to play in the Conference and help their development. They were told in no uncertain terms that they would have to start nine divisions below what we would refer to as the Conference. If they are this harsh on Everton, they are not going to lay down the red carpet and allow either Old Firm club in. Not to mention the geographical scenario and getting passed UEFA. The idea is farcical! There is sadly only one man who can decide if the Old Firm will ever be allowed into the promised land of the English Premier League and that is the evil Rupert Murdoch.
