Was looking at some threads about Liverpool earlier. They were asking about the state of their club's current affairs and where they are now in reality.
I merely pointed out that they are 4 points better off than a West Brom team managed by their former manager they didn't think good enough to take them forward.
4 points despite the fact that Kenny has pretty much spent nigh on £100million to get them 4 points above a team that has spent nowhere near what they have.
Roy was given nothing at Liverpool, took over from a declining team under Rafa and did reasonably ok with the resources. He's also now taking West Brom to within 4 points of his former club.
So instead of trying to debate my points (which were factual), I was called a "tool" a "wum" and my posts were deleted!
I also pointed out that less than 2 weeks ago, Fred Bassett..... claimed that Liverpool's chances of getting 4th spot were far superior than United's of winning the league as, at 2 points behind, we were "clinging on to their coat tails".
Pretty pathetic to go deleting posts which were meant as serious questions and put as such.
Why can't they answer simple questions

Some of West Brom's performances this season have been very attack minded. Yesterday against us they started very well. They've scored 5 more than Liverpool away from home in the league and only one less than you at home.
Accepted that you should have scored a lot more but those are the stats. West Brom's goalscoring record is good this season, they look to be pretty dismal at the back though.
I do accept what you're saying though about him at Liverpool but I do think he's also a manager that will look to a team's strengths and play to them.
At West brom he has no real option but to just go out and try and outscore the opposition. He knows they will concede.

yes. why?
It's perfectly normal to expect worse short term results when completely changing and rebuilding a side.

Yes because a negative goal difference at Liverpool who had Torres is certainly playing to the teams strengths.
He was out of his depth and he has now gone. Chapter is closed.
The only Liverpool manager for quite some time who never won a trophy.

@Vidicschin
I think I see the confusion
I meant to say if you only care about the short term then 'it's a results game' but that's less important if you take a long term view

Torres wanted away before Roy got there. And Torres was the ONLY option! that was inherited from Benitez' ineptitude to realise he needed backup for Torres and not Roy's fault.
I might be wrong on this but from memory, Hodgson signed Jovanovic (although I'm sure deal was done by Rafa), Mereiles (one of best players under Roy), Konchesky (awful signing), Poulsen and Joe Cole? A few others who never really played.
But was that really any worse than Adam, Downing, Carroll and Henderson? He spent far less money and lost Mascherano and Riera due to no fault of his own. The Aquilani affair was still overshadowing the club.
The players suddenly upped their game when Kenny came in which is not down to Kenny but it was clear they didn't want to play for Roy and the fans were also against him.
In my eyes he was treated a bit unfairly. Yes he didn't do himself any favours with some of the comments but to expect a team in decline from Rafa's later years to get better results than they probably deserved was a bit unfair on Roy given the time he had at the club.

Still wouldn't expect a negative goal difference though... Poulsen and Konchesky were one thing, but letting Aquilani go on loan was poor.. he didn't even get a loan fee!
He also let a couple of talented youngsters in laurie dalla Valle and Kacaniklic go to fulham when he brought in Konchesky.
Also, his assistant was a 67 yr old goalkeeping coach.. He had us playing poorly, of Torres wanted to go he would have gone in the summer, mascherano wanted out as he couldn't get on with Hodgson, even agger was dismayed at the tactics.

Basically Rafa was removed from his job because the owners wanted him out (he had become a thorn in their side)
Hodgson was billed as this top manager who was worse! And compounded it by pandering to hicks and Gillet.

Both Jova and Meireles were well past the scouting phase when Roy turned up. For good and bad you can't put either on Roy's CV.
My biggest problem with Roy was he tried to completely change a very good side for no reason. Rafa's last season was blighted by injury (and we had no depth thanks to G&H). Roy had a fully fit side and all he had to do was stick them out in a 4-2-3-1 and press high up the pitch. Steady the ship. Sorted. 4th would have been a gimme.
Instead of steadying the ship, he transformed us into a defensive 4-4-2 (none of the players were suited to it) so rigid it made your eyes bleed. A bank of 4 just inside our 18, a bank of 4 a yard in front of it. Then stick Torres and the other striker into the centre circle and HOOF when we were lucky enough to get the ball.
Roy disgusts me for what he did to us. I'm sure he's an alright bloke to have a pint with. My disgust is purely with what he did as manager.

Some good comments lads and I understand the Roy thing though. Maybe not how you thought it would go though with Kenny?
Anyway decent posts eventually and apologies if you think I was wumming, I was genuinely interested.
