VIRAT KOHLI

He is a very promising BATSMAN, don't like it when people ignore every other aspect of the game

In terms of young batsman, he and Chandimal are the most promising around, in terms of bowlers, Pat Cummins looks a good prospect, but Finn looks top notch.

Obviously I was talking about him as a batsman. He is hardly a regular bowler is he?
I don't particularly rate Finn but Pat looks decent.

I like the fact that Kohli has good shots on both front and back foot. Important if he is to be a success in Test Cricket.

Regarding bowling. There are 5 new fast bowlers that really excite me.

Finn
De Lange
Cummins
Pattinson
Dinda

He has a very good technique but I fear that the IPL will harm that as it has so many other talented batsmen.

Cummins is fragile the Aussies have put him in mothballs since his test in SA.
Philander is the real star at present, who I believe will be a big danger in English conditions. Not bad with the bat either.

Lets see him up against a decent bowling attack before we hail him as the new Tendulkar.

Fact is he'll probably have a nightmare in England and South Africa and end up on the T20 scrapheap like Raina, Uthappa et al.

Dinda -

Kohli is a class act and will improve his test form very soon.

PS - welcome back Red Indian.

Philander is getting a lot of wickets, but he seems a bowler that will exploit assistance from the wicket. On flatter tracks, I think he will struggle.

Good shout hope, he may do well in England, but he has really struggled in ODI cricket when batsman have attacked him. It may be a good idea to open with KP to bash him and stop him from getting into a rhythm

Pattinson looks really talented. Although we are yet to see how he performs on wickets which do not offer much assistance.
Kash
Welcome. I am sure you and the other guys missed me a lot.
Where is that lad topdawg and maksi?

FTB at best.

To be fair PR, he was the only Indian batsman who did well in Australia. He did struggle in the West Indies, but he looks to have matured since then.

Kidding but he has got all the attributes necessary to become a world class player.

I worry when good players play too much ODI and T20 cricket. Andrew Strauss was batting well in tests, took over the ODI captaincy and hasn't scored a hundred since. Some players can move between the different formats but they are a rare breed.

Red, Maski was back but is now gone sadly.

Topdawg was a quality poster and I am confident that he will make a comeback.

Hftb
That's why they are superior to others. Sachin, Dravid, Kohli etc can do just the same i.e switch between formats. Unfortunately England batsmen are unable to do so.

Anyone that can use a keyboard is a quality poster as far as kash is concerned

Kholi has some way to go to be called a successful test player. Only 8 tests played at 32 average to date.
Cook and Trott are doing OK at the moment.

posted on 23/3/12

i used to hate it when people used to praise trott like he was another bradman. the guy had only played like 15 tests and averaged 67 and people were like all over the place. the guy is now in a decline in both formats.
hpft dont put cook and trott in the same bracket. i think cook is a better player than trott by miles and im sure most england fans will agree
kohli is an exceptional odi player. I have full confidence he will become a gd test player, if he carries on with the same passion he has been playing with.
just a question to a few people. why do u guys want kohli to become a captain. havent u guys noticed that after captaining india, all the players average have only gone one way, and that is down. I think seeing how our batting line up is fragile, we shud leave kohli free from this burden and let him carry on with batting.

I simply pointed out that Cook and Trott have moved between tests and ODI with success. No comparison of them was made.

Darren Bravo, aged just 23, has made a very promising start to his test career.

He's not outstanding in all formats and needs to gain experience but i believe he could become a superb player for the West Indies in the five-day format.

Neon, Cooks been batting with DRS for the last 5 years. Indian players have inflated averages due to lack of DRS.

posted on 24/3/12

Cook - tests = 48 av. ODI = 41
Trott - tests = 53 av, ODI = 48

What you talking about Neon.

Kash it all balances out. Sachin and dravid have faced the most fierest of bowlers.currently not even a single bowler cud match the like of mcgrath, warne, murali, wasim waqar shoib(due to sheer pace). Even steyn compared to these guys are nothing.right now we only have 1 decent spinner ajmal, otherwise the rest are getting slaughter by some domestic teams. I have actually missed out so many bowlers.
