JFDI - Of course he's back on side now AVB's been sacked. His personal problem's been dealt with, why wouldn't he be happy?

Sideshow Luiz - i'm not for one minute claiming Lampard DIRECTLY got AVB sacked. He's not that stupid. But he, and a few others, clearly made a conscious decision to stop playing for him. It was exactly the same with Scolari. And i don't need to invoke the gutter press to tell me that, it was blatantly obvious in their attitude and performance levels.

Now while Scolari was ultimately necessary, in the stand off they offered more as a group at that moment, this wasn't the case with AVB who had more to offer us long term than they did. That's the difference. Instead of playing mental russian roulette with him, as the party in their twlight years they should've worked around him rather than expecting him to work around them.

If he is back on side now why are you accusing him of betrayal this week?

Look you have your view I accept it, but can't take you seriously.

It's not his betrayal to us (though i believe AVB had more value than others seem to on this thread), it's his betrayal to himself. N i knew that sounds corny, so lemme explain

Think it's fair to say many footballers today make it easy for themselves to become hate figures. Well Frank was one of those people who was a beacon of inspiration. I realise we've got a ton of individuals in our dressing room who dispise their behaviour towards certain managers (a mentality i can understand btw), are a proud representation of our club, but Lampard was more than that. He was one of a very select few involved in the football industry where i could say the following sentence, '120k/w ..... deserves every penny'. Now i see him as just another inflated ego jammed in the same cluster as Drogba.

It's more the disappointment than the act itself. That's where the word betrayal is coming from.

The rifle incident had nothing to do with Carlo's sacking

Yeah, the rifle had very little to do with it, the Champions League performance was deciding, and our winter slump too.

As for Lampard, it's naive to accuse certain fans of believing the media's propaganda against him. I have not had a tabloid in my hands all season yet the performances, body language, choice of words in interviews etc. were enough for me. He is a legend and always will be, but even legends are human, and even legends can behave like tools.

And you know that for sure do you? Mind telling me who are next manager is? You're obviously very well contacted

I'm judging him by what my own two eyes and ears have shown me the past nine months. It really shouldn't take a genius to figure out he wasn't playing for AVB.

If 12 goals and 6 assists is when Lampard isn't playing for a manager, I cant wait until he gets a manager he likes, he'll be unstoppable!

hahahaha, just to inform you, i'm HHHBF. I'm sure you read post after post of my laying into the entire team hard under that name. Went from proclaiming those who think the squad should be revolutionised as knee jerkers to practically being their spokesman in the space of two weeks

ha, what a strange comment. He had better stats under manager's he liked. So yes, true statement

posted on 29/3/12

Don't think its a strange comment all. If he still gets those stats when he's apparently not trying, he'll surely be amazing when he's got a manager he likes, no?

Yep, absolutely. Strange comment if you meant it to be rhetorical

That's the point, it shows he wasn't playing for AVB

Woa, firstly the complaint was about what he said, now it's how he performed, and if I could be blundered to look back over the posts tonight there have been at least one other reason to slate him. Seems like an agenda and when your points are challenged enough the reasons fot having a pop switch. Some of us would make great West Ham fans.

You thinking FAR too literaily. Not everything's so concrete. The actual issue has nothing to do with the stand off itself, if there isn't conflict in a dressing room from time to time something's wrong, it's with how it came about and ultimately how it was resolved.

Of course AVB made huge mistakes. First of which was retaining certain players in the first place and expecting them to take the dropping of an untouchable tag quietly - fatal error. Another was assuming he had the security to dictate to players not used to that kind of management, nor respond to it very well. And i'm sure he didn't take Lampard's attitude laying down, after all he had a spine.

But what's unforgiveable about Lampard's manor is it's utter conflict with the repuation he'd given himself throughout his career, it made him look fraudulent. To respond so badly to a manager simply testing his value to the team was so disappointing. AVB on the other hand was just furfilling his function, planning for the future accordingly.

He actually had 7 assists I think.

But anyway, looking at those stats doesn't tell the story of his season. A couple of these goals were penalties and 4 were against Bolton when they were rubbish. For a midfielder goals should be a bonus in addition to good passing and creating chances, and he's done neither this season.
