I agree. £50M or get lost.

Just let him go, Kamran.

Holding on to a player who doesn't want to stay is not good for Arsenal nor for Fabregas.

We did it with Ronaldo. You've done it with Anelka, Henry and Vieira. Do it again with Fabregas.

"We did it with Ronaldo."

You got £80M for him though.

The problem is strikers are worth a lot more than midfielders and when you have clubs like Liverpool and United inflating the market by spending ludicrous amounts on overrated English players that doesn't help. I would have said atm Fabregas is worth no more than £40m. But I can't for the laugh of me see how Andy Caroll can be worth as much as Fabregas.

The market these days is just crazy.

We could have asked for more if we had held out. But in the end, the player had given us many seasons of excellent service and we had to let him follow his dream.

In case you haven't noticed, I am not in charge of Arsenal football club. So I can't 'just let him go'.

Never Blowing Bubbles, I agree. For some stupid reason, strikers are worth more than midfielders and defenders these days. I just don't understand the logic behind that.

Also, how can Fabregas only be worth 5M more than Milner?

Are you failing to see that Cesc Fabregas is our CAPTAIN? Who in their right mind has a captain who for 2yrs has stated he wants to join another club?
Jog on No.4, go warm the bench in Barcelona because you're simply not welcome at the Emirates. Same goes for Nasri, Clichy and Bendtner. I don't care who buys them, so long as we get the cash. After all that's what those muppets care about, why should we feel any different?

Well, you could have fooled me as you stated this in your OP:

"Anyway, my point is Gooners, we shouldn't just sell him for less than what he's worth just for the sake of it. We've made this mistake before with Henry, it would be rather stupid of us to commit the same mistake again. So, if Barca are not willing to make a serious offer for him, then we shouldn't allow him to leave."

Barcelona are not going to budge, they know he wants to join and so do arsenal. If we get £40m offer we have to accept it, it is a good amount of money and we can use that money to help improve the whole team.

It isn't right. The problem is Barca think they can just walk in with stupid prices and expect everybody to bend over and meet their demands, they offered something in the region of £20m for Luiz (reportedly) which is just ridiculous bearing in mind we bought him for the same price in January.

The day United bought Ferdinand for £29m, was the day the transfer market was truly inflated IMO. The media can try and point the finger at Chelsea and City all they like, but they should look closer to home IMO.

In fairness to City, Villa probbaly held them at ransom for Milner. I have no idea what City were trying to achieve and exactly why they were trying to buy certain players that were a complete mismatch IMO.

As much as I hate Real, it would be brilliant to see Cesc end up there for £45m which is probably what he is truly worth IMO. With a midfield of Fabregas, Alonso and Ozil they would easily be able to match Barca.

I think Cesc really dos like Arsenal. The only club he would probably leave them for are his hometown club. Can't see a proud Catalan with so many connections to Barca joining Real, to be honest.

He won't. There is as much chance of Lampard signing for West Ham tomorrow as there is Cesc joining Real. Barcelona is almost like my 2nd home and I've come across Castillian people before as well and the hatred runs deep. Goes far beyond football IMO.

If Cesc went to real, he would never be able to go home again and he knows it.

Arsenal are still Cesc's club and have looked after him as a boy, he will only join Barca if he goes.

Its pointless keeping a player who wants to leave, if nasri, clichy and cesc wants to leave so be it. Wenger should bring in players who wan't to play for Arsenal. This kind of thinking that Arsenal is a transit club should stop. £20 for nasri, £10 for clichy and £35 plus a youthful player from barca for cesc is sweet music to me cut your loses and move on. In a few years they will be involved in relegation battles and bench warming like hleb and adebayor. Wenger's biggest mistake is babysitting these brats and contending with their hissy fits Its high time the kid glove came off and every game should be an evaluation parameter for each player, you play like garbage you get flogged off, sour_puss face ditto , miss a sitter that harry's missus could have tucked in!! ditto i am sick and tired of the prima-donna attitude. At this level we don't need a therapist to deal with their emotional issues they get paid to play

We are not going to offer 40m. 35M maximam. If arsenal don't accept it than no probe. Keep cesc to captain your team.

Why is that so unrealistic? The Lampard bit I mean. There's no comparison between the 2 scenarios! If Fabregas had once played for Real, then maybe you'd have a point.

posted on 2/7/11

but imo we shouldn't give up and sell him until they pay us what he's worth.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kamran, you never understand where the guy is wanting to go. Yes, Cesc is should be worth of more than 40M. If he could agree to go to Madrid, we would have got more money than Barcelona is expected to pay. but he didn't want to go other than barca. that's the problem mate.

Are you kidding me? In today's market, yea you might have a point but when he was sold, £80M completely smashed the world record fee and even with the ridiculous transfer fees going around at the moment, nobody will come close to breaking Ronaldo's transfer record for a while. On top of that, the £80M wasn't paid in installments, it was a lump sum, one of payment of £80M.

Real Madrid gave United what they wanted for Ronaldo. Barca aren't giving us what we want and that means they shouldn't get who they want.

posted on 2/7/11

what you talking about manyoo.

80M was a fantastic price, so large fergie didnt even bother asking for more, ronaldo was straight out the door.

Barca are trying to bully us, our rivals would love us to sell cesc, for a price that will ensure we can no-way replace him.

Like the OP mentioned pastore 45M, sell Cesc for less than that and the board are mugs.

I'd happily sell to madrid, they'll pay what his worth!

but do u think it's good to hold a player who has lost desire to play will give us a benefit? I actually don't want Cesc to go had he interested to stay with us. but I am an advocate of his sell. what matters most however his sell should be with fair price and which will give us a new force. It should be a blessing in disguise.
