so its no coincedence that everyone wants us to sign javi martinez after bilbao battered us
-----------------------------------------------------
Who says "everyone" wants us to sign him? A lot of the people I know had first seen Javi Martinez play for Spain during the European U-21 Championships last summer in Denmark where he was one of the best players of the tournament. I'd seen him come on for Spain at the 2010 World Cup in a brief appearance but hadn't seen much of him until the U-21's in Denmark.

Think Martinez was linked last summer too wasn't he? Easy to see why he is so highly rated when even at centre back he played us off the park.
Martinez has been talked about for 2 or 3 years now, good player. Strootman, considering Ajax are rarely on tv, means almost nobody knows anything about him, so the English media lable him the Dutvh Keane. He could be a good player. But until this mirror article, I have never heard him mentioned on this board.
Boring and predictable.
PSV even (I know nothing about him).
ok let me ask those who have seen strootman play, would he be a good signing for us?
I doubt anybody on here has seen him more than once or twice, if they say they have, they are probably lying.

Let me just clarify that I and I'm sure BB are not saying he wouldn't be a good signing, all we're saying is that it's not right for someone to say we should sign a player that the person has never heard of and also just because he's an International.
not having a go at anyone just wanted to know if anyone has seen him play and will he fit in?
I would rather us promote from within. Look at bilbao against man utd, munian and de marcos etc were excellent against us. Msaybe pogba and cleverly can grow up at man utd and be great for us.
Munian is Pogbas age I believe, Martinez owned Clev let's face the facts.
I have watched all of strootmans matches for psv this season, and I am convinced that he would be brilliant. I remember one match where he ran clean through, took it past the keeper and smashed it in with his left foot. great goal..
I believe he can play in a midfield two, even as a "quarterback". he can turn it on on a wet and windy Tuesday night at FC Groningen and he has always wanted to play for psv eindhoven, so he shouldn't have any dreams of real Madrid.. his assist ratio isn't wonderful, but that doesn't really matter does it? look at Anderson... there again, if he wanders too far up the pitch then he could get in rooneys way..
Rather have Martinez and Hazard , but I guess thats unlikely,
Re Strootman do we need a DM who pegs it up the field all the time , isnt that what Jones does now anyway. I think these days you probabaly need the Makele, type player you dont even know whose there, but is basically completely stopping the opposition playing and passes out to get the attack started. That also allows up to 7 other players to bomb forward, coz they know everythings covered
