How can I be a 'tard with a 2:1 degree in Physics.

If there's anyone in Burnley that can spell Physics, I'll buy 'em a pint

A 2:1 is that all you managed? you poor thing. Was that from the university of mickey mouse in Horwich? Will buy you a pint if you manage to get a decent job with your mickey mouse, back of a cereal packet degree. 2nd class hounours, I suppose we can't all get a 1st from a proper university.

"Honours" great have a rant and shoot myself in the foot. did I say 1st I meant GCSE in english!

How many of your lot have moved here from 606? Don't get on much. Nothing from Florida recently. Is Mallorca Trotter on here?

posted on 3/7/11

A 2:1 in the hardest degree on earth is pretty impressive.

Only Professor Brian Cox gets a 1st and a decent tele job.

Mallorcas about btw as are quite few "606" BWFC veterans.

Glad I stirred you and good luck next season

I would struggle with an english GCSE at the moment. Good luck next season.

Not sure why you are on this board or what relevance your degree, real or otherwise, is supposed to have, reebok, but I guess you're welcome if you keep on topic and stay civil.
The only news coming out of the Turf seems to be that Pato and McCann are staying. One of the weekend papers talked about Corky having signed for Southampton, the lure of the Sarf being too much, which is a pity.
So, nothing of any substance means not many Clarets posting at the moment, methinks.
The real florida retired for good in glorious fashion when 606 sank - but beware of cheap imitations !.
I think other ex 606ers have learned that if you've nothing to offer except negative childish drivel, it's much better (and far less embarrassing) to keep your head down and stay on your own patch.....

Alright fella.

Not a lot happenenig at camp Reebok on the player front as well and it does get a bit boring discussing the tabloid stab in the dark rumours.

They even had us linked with Thiago Alcantara and some of us started a get a bit giddy about it until Barcelona improved his contract and stuck an 81 million buy out clause in there.

I don't think we will move in the market too much until the Gary Cahill saga is sorted out.

If he goes for circa 17mil, we will buy some decent players, if not we will be on the look out for frees, cheapies and loanees, at which we have a decent history of doing.

We have signed Darren Pratley on a free from Swansea, but as we know nothing life is free and will have cost us at least a million in sign on/agent fees.

Anyway, are you going to be joining us in the Prem next season?

Too many southerners promoted this time for my liking and we need another decent derby

Talking about needing to balance the books at the Turf before making any signings??? Where has all the money gone? what has happened to the parachute payments? stinks of financial mis-management to me.

posted on 4/7/11

I've not heard of any talk of having to balance the books, we're still receiving huge amounts of parachute money and, let's face it, we've not exactly gone mad over the last season so we should actually be in the market for 3-4 million pound players but, to be fair, if Prem wages are being asked for (Corky?) then we're better off buying the best stuff from the lower leagues.
As I've said before, we must not start looking at ex Prem journeymen - leave that to the Prem also-rans, let them waste their money if they want.
I think the money's there and I like Eddie's refusal to get drawn into stupid speculation. I think we have to trust him to do his job. He won't have unlimited funds, who has, but he must have a reasonable amount to play with.

posted on 4/7/11

Am I right in saying that the parachute money is 48mil now spread over 4 seasons?

May take you a couple of seasons to re-align your wage structure after the Prem but at least you didn't overstretch yourselves like Hull did who are suffering pay back time good style.

You've got to remember, we were at bit of a yo-yo team until we managed to get established in the Prem, but I accept it is probably even harder these days than when we achieved it.

Sorry, bricks, the doh was the end of a comment that I tried to post but was rejected via a "spam filter".....yes, you're right, I think it is much more difficult to get promoted and make the breakthrough and even after ten years, like yourselves, clubs can't be absolutely sure of Prem survival next season.
I had to smile - no sooner do I announce that I'm chuffed Pato and McCann are staying when I read that Reading are after Pato with a vengeance and after, apparently, losing Corky this is not good news...

Eddie Howe made the comment about balancing the books and selling to buy. It was either on the club website or the evening telegraph. Problem is we gave Brian Laws money to spend and he wasted it. I can understand the wage issue to a certain extent but the club need to match the manager's ambition or we will fade away into mid table obscurity. If southampton can afford Cork why cant we? It would be a big gamble to do nothing in the transfer market while the clubs around us snap up all the better players. How many clubs have had offers accepted for Cork while we are "still talking to" Chelsea? Priced out of the market for Shackell, who went to Derby??? It is a little worrying. We wont get promoted with the squad we have now, not a chance.

posted on 4/7/11

Fair enough, I'd not seen the comment by Eddie and, yes, from our viewpoint it does seem a bit odd or disappointing we're missing out. Point is, of course, Corky excepted, it may well be that Eddie has very definite targets in mind but is keeping schtum which, to be fair, is not a bad idea. We have to trust the bloke and be patient.
Even with the return of last season's injured players and a bit of a clearout, he will know, probably better than us, the strengths and, particularly, the weaknesses of the squad.
You are spot on, wrexham,as things stand, we'll be halfway at best. Let's wait and see what he does.

posted on 4/7/11

True, better to keep quiet about targets than advertise them. I'm not very good at waiting games. Probably my biggest weakness
Not heard anything concrete on Cork yet?

posted on 4/7/11

Nothing on Southampton's website anyway. Never did trust the sunday papers.

I aint under any illusions as to the consequences of relegation for ourselves. As my original post suggested would like like you back in the Prem for our Derbies.

I'd also like to the Coyle wars are over?

If not, I'd like to think we can discuss football on a civil level from now on ?

posted on 4/7/11

I would go with that Bricks. Football it is. Just keep Rover Blue away from me, he doesn't do reasoned debate!

Deal. Wrexham.

posted on 5/7/11

Good shout, bricks, the whole Coyle thing died for me and a lot of Clarets after the League Cup game.
With 606 popping,I think we have the chance to start again in a new, more civilised way and we should stick to it. One of your colleagues has been warned what to expect and, after a temporary ban, seems to have been forced to behave or shut up.

Cuneo

People are being pleasant, dont rake up previous stuff. That's the start of a downfall again.

Football and football from now on. If you're able to do that, you'll have no issues from me.

Ok?

Ps; hi Wrexham, hope your well.

went to derby!!! even if the clarets had met the asking price you would still struggle to convince a player to choose bfc over the likes of derby, birmingham the list goes on.these clubs have fantastic training facilities bigger fan base and when meeting a player spin them a better yarn
