Almost forgot to mention Stuart Metcalfe a sterling servant for the Rovers, played for England Youth and under 21s a underated midfielder.
6 games he played for Rovers then he was sold to Aberdeen .
I always thought Mark Atkins was a bit of an un sung hero.
Duff was amazing to watch when he was having a good day, him and Dunny used to be great to watch when they first started coming through.
Mike Newell and Bobby Mimms were great players, and I always used to like Kevin Gallagher, always thought he was pretty nippy.
Keith Gillespie was funny to watch, always looked like he was not looking where he was meant to be and was only ever exposed to sunlight when playing a match, he was (and probably still is) so pale it looked like he was stored in a garage covered with a dust sheet.
It would have been easy to say Shearer Sutton etc.I wanted to go back in time and remmember all the unsung heroes that have played for our club.I am sure ive missed a lot of great players but time plays tricks with the mind and remmembrance.
Nice article and sentiment Star. I did not realise you had been supporting all those years!
Loved Stuart Metcalfe and John Bailey was another favourite. Kevin Hird played full back in that team and he was a good player as well. Remember Don Martin and Bobby Svarc upfront?
All time favourites Derek Fazackerly and Terry Gennoe. Gentlemen. And Keeley is going to get you!
Scotty Sellars and Simon G, plus Micky Rathbone all favourites of mine.
Friedal, Tugay and Shearer all amazing for our club.
Hughes, Souness, Dalglish, Hodgson, Allardyce, demonstrating the quality of manager we CAN attract, unless settling for 2nd best.
OOJW I forgot about Killer keeley,I remmember going to Derby in the FA Cup. Charley George got some stick from our fans that day and one of our Rovers fans had a banner with Keeley biting a sheep with the text Killer Keeley Kills rams.
My mates dad is Eamonn Rogers, does anyone remember him? He played for rovers in the late 60s and early 70s
I do!A good player too always did his best for Rovers.Another one for OOJW is Noel Brotherston also a very good player.
Yes Star I remember Noel of course.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, he is the king of Ewood Park!!
R.I.P Noel - Gone but not forgotten.
I remember Keeley kicking an opposition player into the stands. Literally!!
What is this to do with Burnley ?
"What is this to do with Burnley ?"
What are you on about?
Just to make you jealous, you've not had any decent players for more than 50 years!
Super Colin Hendry!
Whats this got to do with BurnleylMany players have played for both clubs over the years Keith Newton(r.i.p)and Adam Blacklaw weeJohnny Price and countless oyher players who were good but not real stars.
