who knows what he would have done if he had the sort of resources available to Chelsea or Man City.

And Man Utd.

It's not Hippo, but in Spain, whoever finishes third is the best they're going to achieve. No ones getting above City or United, like no one is getting above Real + Barca

Considering where we were

Wenger has done superbly well – his undefeated season was obviously a fantastic achievement but I personally think if he secures champions league next season – ie finishes in the top 4 this season, that will be his greatest achievement as manager of Arsenal.
Simply because I don’t think Arsenal are actually the 4th best side this season. They have done superbly well though and it is a testament to Wenger that they are anywhere near 4th spot.

Having said that I don’t think you can be too harsh on fans that were criticising him before… whilst his undefeated side was a great memory – it is a distant one, as are the memories of Arsenal winning anything. Yes Wenger is performing well – but the team has not won anything for a long time, and for a club of Arsenal’s size that isn’t right. Some criticism of Wenger is valid – he is very good, but he is not perfect and has made mistakes and still does… and his apparent blindness to these mistakes could be extremely frustrating.

As for the comparison to other managers with more money. Money does not mean success necessarily – and yes it’s easy to say with all the resources at his command Mancini should be at the very least 2nd in the league. That is much the same as saying Arsenal’s scouting system means at the very least they should be unearthing such talent…

Considering what happened in the summer/ start of the season/ January it's a pretty good achievement

I think you will find our averange net spending of around £7 million, whereas both Chelsea and Man City, are spending around £50+ million every year.

he's definitely made mistakes and isn't perfect, but at the start of the season fans were saying he's finished, deluded, lost the plot and needs to go so the fans saying that have been proved completely wrong. And 3rd isn't really an achievement but it is when most people thought we would struggle for top 6.

Our team cost about a fifth of yours.
Our highest transfer is £15m.

You've spent:
£30m on Ferdinand
£30 on Rooney
£25 on Carrick
£25 on Berbatov
£18 on De Gea
etc etc

I understand this is over a longer period of time than City/Chelsea, but its an incredible amount of money.

tbh with you most players are Mercs just look at Rooney when Fergie bought Hernandez Rooney wanted out cos he thought Hernandez wasnt good enough for utd,in fact he said a few of the players there aint good enough,Fergie should have kicked the Merc out on his ear.

It would have been really easy for the team and Wenger to buckle during the season after what seemed like a string of setbacks but they haven't and that's testament to Arsene's belief in this squad of players.

Well Rooney just wanted more money and when players much worse than him earn a lot more, I can sort of understand that he may feel unfairly treated. However, I cannot defend his behavior, as I do not know the whole situation. But, what you can deny is that Fergie would have kicked him out, If there was a need for that.

Apart from Berbatov those players you mentioned have been world class and I don't feel no regrent in paying market price to get that quality. That is why we have been so successful in the premier league. The trouble with Arsenal is not the fact that you don't have that sort of talent, but that you can't keep them.

The trouble with Arsenal is that we cannot afford them.

We have to buy young and cheap, rather than throwing money around for instant results - something which you attack City for.

The problem with nurturing young talent is that they soon seek 'instant' results, and so wander off (to their downfall) to a rich club.
You bought Ronaldo when he was young, nurtured him, yet could not hold onto him when a better club came calling.

So wait, previously you were refuting the claim that United have similar resources to City and Chelsea (by quoting a net spend figure that is, by the way, hugely weighted by the incredible fee you got for Ronaldo), now you're saying that your success in the league is down to spending big money on players?

Make your mind up!

TheSkins Well we don't have the similar resources. We don't go spending £55 million on Torreses every year, do we. But we still have to spend to get the players, as our academy is not very good any more.

My point is that yes you don't buy those expensive players. However, you are still producing the talent i.e. Van Persie, Fabregas etc Trouble is you can't keep them to get a title winning team like we have. Players like Giggs, Scholes are what I am talking about. Forget about Ronaldo, he is a one off anomaly.

I still want him sacked now whats your point?
