only Wilshire could conceivably make the Euros

England would go out in the group stages with a one man squad
I'd prefer to see scholes in england than lampard for certain, and carsick over barry for me. Just shows dire our team is when the best we can do in CM is a 36 yr old scholes! Wish wilshere could have been fit all season. Wilshere and scholes in same midfield, somehow, would be a good combination.
Personally I have always thought Carrick was underrated; when players like Xavi and Xavi Alonso are having conversations about how good he is, and Fergie seems to continue picking him in his teams, and those teams keep on winning titles, I don't think he can be half-bad.
I would love to see us play with 3 in the middle rather than two; personally i see Carrick as more of a Busquets style player, very tactically intelligent and good with interceptions and playing simple passes (like a metronome to keep the team ticking). I would like to see Carrick alongside Wilshere, forming the double-pivot of a 4-2-3-1. Most importantly on the international stage, every player (especially midfield) needs to have EXCELLENT TECHNIQUE (esp. first touch), and good tactical intelligence if we want to keep the ball for any amount of time against top opposition.
I think ~Scholes is awesome, but i would rather we didn't play him and built for the future with Wilshere as deep- playmaker, even if he is a bit match- rusty atm
Carrick definitely but not Scholes, imo.
I think most United fans would agree that Scholes has had a few good games but hasn't been AS good as the media are saying.
IMO the midfield should be:
Parker..Carrick
Wilshere
If wilshere doesn't make it, then someone else.
Walcott should make it too.
I don't know about Carrick. The guy seems average. But according to Man U fans, he's won a lot of you guys over with some solid displays.
I assume he keeps things simple, and ticking. A bit like our Arteta. Albeit not as good, of course.
*ahaha carrick i mean. Not carsick, Stupid mac book auto correct f ucks me over again!
Carrick is KAK.
He offers nothing, Parker, Lampard, Gerard etc could not do with their eyes closed.
Scholes is too old for tournament footy and would be a red card diaster waiting to happen.
realistically it would be good to have Parker and Wilshere in the middle. Parker has been brilliant this season and Wilshere is talented enough to go straight in.
Gerrard has been poor this season and don't get me started on Barry. I thought we all agreed that he was guff after Ozil skinned him?!
as to why carrick doesn't get a mention who knows but with my general antipathy towards England these days I wouldn't hold it against whoever manages England this summer to start with Scholes and Carrick. It could just work......
It would work... but, of course, Scholes couldn't play a game every 4-5 days or so... So you'd still need a plan B.
I don't mind the idea of Carrick and Parker playing together, Parker bombing about, and Carrick keeping possession and spreading the ball. This would put alot of pressure on Rooney to be playmaker, but he is more than capable.
That would mean dropping Gerrard and Lampard though, it is just to big of an ask for the FA to think about football instead of image rights.
Gerrard & Lampard combo for England =
Carrick is pants. I have no idea how he's even in contention for a place in the England squad.
If fit the cm should be wilshere carrick and rodwell but rodwell is injured so Parker would have to do.
machinegooner your opionion on Carrick would potentially have had some weight if you'd detailed why he is KAK. You ruined it with the Parker, Gerard and Lampard reference. Gerard can play a pass, the other two can't. Parker can make a tackle, the other two can't. Lampard is fat, the other two aren't.
Seriously though, Carrick, Wilshire and Gerard would be my pick. Scholes possibly as part of the squad but really we should be looking to the future. The sad thing is I think if Carrick went he would be nothing more than an unused sub and if that's the case I'd rather he didn't go and rested up over the summer.
Melo, you like Welbeck so your opinion will hereby be dismissed.
Thank you for the input though, sire.

I think Scholes in his current form is severely overrated. He would get found out on the international stage.
I would happily play Carrick as part of a 3man midfield:
Parker-Carrick
Wilshere/Rooney
All those stating Carrick is pants you're very wrong. Any United fan will tell you how key he has been to our season this year and in past seasons.

You're very welcome.
I'm also Scottish so my opinion on international football should be double-dismissed.
Carrick keeps possession, something England struggle to do.
I would put money on it Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Barry, Parker will be the main CM's we use.
Milner, Barry, Lampard, Downing......
The mind boggles. Why oh why can't we give others a shot who are as good and would bring more to the team. Leon Osman springs to mind and there are plenty of others.

A summary of his articles would be that Carrick is Kak. Nothing more. So if he can't offer depth to his opinion he can go.
