Pogued - what a warped take on things. So entrenched in your tinted, factually inaccurate view of NI fans, you're actually beneath contempt.

Sorry, are you honestly claiming that NI did not have a history of sectarianism at their games in the past?

You sound like a dissident republican, ranting about regimes.

Ranting? Or asking a simple question?

I suggest it is you two who need to 'move on' and accept the terms of the GFA = Irish citizenship for anyone born in the six counties = the right to declare for the ROI soccer team.

Stopped debating have we? Good to see you know when you've been proved wrong.

I'm only interested in hearing how NI could be better represented according to certain 'circles' within NI and indeed how they propose communicating this to the IFA.

If you've nothing to add, move on son.

posted on 20/4/12

Move on? You didn't start the article kid!

What you mean is you didn't want to answer the awkward questions.

Btw, the only people the IFA listened to when they had the chance to move into a brand new purpose built world class sports arena that could've attracted a broader fanbase was their friends at Linfield FC and a few backward looking NI fans, so I don't think certain 'circles' within NI will be wasting their time communicating anything to the IFA.

I got the 100 th post, hence this hunn gets the ton.Are you new here,or is the green blood moving away from your brain as you enter rant mode, factor 10.

Yea let's quote the GFA on a football forum for a right good giggle. If a guy from the Creggan wants to choose his team for political and religous reasons, that is his perogative.
The GFA also upholds the status quo regarding Ulster's separate right to exist outside a so called united Ireland. In other words,no change in our constitutional position.
That is why the cira and rira are ragin pogued.

You're right, the GFA does uphold that, and you don't see me here moaning about it do you? I accept it because I'm happy to see relative peace in our time, and the way to make sure that relative peace continues is to ensure all our citizen's rights are respected (including in soccer which of course is so ultra-important in the grand scheme of things!) and in doing so keep the dissidents marginalised. Imagine the field day the dissidents would have if those of you that argue that FIFA should stop players born in the north and entitled to Irish citizenship playing for the ROI at the behest of the IFA got their way?

And you try and label me and anyone else from the north that supports Ireland as extremists?! The mind boggles, but whatever helps you sleep at night……..

Very good, I always wondered what Ulster-Scots looked like.

Pedantic in comparing 2 economies in trouble, but the UK is miles ahead of Eire at present............buy a copy of the Irish Times mate, and enlighten yourself.
Irish people are leaving for England again and further afield,as the old sod has let the people down again.

And you will be including Northern Irish people too then? the amount of people from the north leaving for Australia is unreal.

I would say some republicans here are extremists who back the ROI for political reasons, but I do not know you and would not call you an extremist.
Good luck supporting the ROI and enjoy the Euros.

If guys up here wish to play for and support Roi,I say go ahead,it is a free country.
Just do not label us sectarian billy boys for supporting our wee country.

That is my main point with some NI based ROI fans.

I am an NI and Rangers fan,but I am not a bigot.

posted on 20/4/12

Yea Mango, but to maintain the pedantic theme, more are leaving from Eire, than Ulster and the UK generally.
The Irish economy has been bailed out, partly by British money.
I do not hate Eire by the way and love going to Donegal,Dublin,Galway,The Burren and Connemara.

I am simply tired of some ROI fans calling me and my team bigots and billy boys etc.

Again,to ROI fans have a ball at the Euros and stay safe..........those hoolies in Europe are nutters at times.

You have my deepest sympathy. I'm off to the pub, I'll raise one to you if I can squeeze by the rugger buggers and get to the bar.

Fair point pogued,as it is a bad time for a Norn Iron bear.

Have a good one with those Ulster rugger buggers.

Incidentally, did you support Ulster when they played Munster or Leinster tonight?

Not stirring it,but the Ulster and Irish identity is confusing at times. Some mates are Irish rugby fans and Rangers fans at the same time, while others do not suppport Ireland at rugby.

Mad world mate.
