Of course

I'll just pop back to my wee corner and let the big Old Firm guys run the show with. That's the best place for diddies like us.

O.K. Here's another idea.
Put a team on the field that attracts fans.
Och help ma boab whit kinda ideer is that, Q?

What about a league that attracts fans???? Not just gloryhunters

That's it queb - when you're losing an article, have a go at the teams

Not being funny, but have you watched any of United's games recently? We actually do have a decent side that plays good, attacking football.

The problem we've got is that we don't have a massive fan base, we don't have a great deal of resources and when we do get good players they leave pretty quickly because we can't retain them.

And more importantly, who would go to see a team that has zero chance of winning their league and averages a cup win every 10 years?

If anything Quebec, you should be praising the fans that do go to Tannadice/Easter Road/Pitoddrie every week, not having a go at the teams that they go to see. Celtic fans showed not too long ago that after 1 season of not winning your attendances dropped by a third.

But hey, you aren't actually here for reasoned debate. You're just here to be a smartarse.

OK west coast, you win.
You think your league would be like the Danish or Swedish leagues? Aye right jist a minute

Yir wrang, son. jist wrang.

Reasoned debate? You mean like the meetings your club is having with 9 others and not inviting the 2 teams who support the league?
Reasoned debate like when I mention representative democracy you talk garbage about British parliamentary first past the post boolshet?

The fans are the life blood of football. Why shouldn't they be represented equally?

I know i mentioned the attendances under mowbray to someone the other day (celtic fan) 35k or so after a couple of months!!!!! Imagine after 15 years without a trophy

posted on 12/4/12

Oh sorry wca. I've supported Celtic since I was 6 years old. We didn't win a league until I was 11.
No glory hunting here.

You mean like the regular meetings the Old Firm clubs have without inviting the 10 teams that make up the vast majority of the league?

Reasoned debate like when I mention representative democracy you talk garbage about British parliamentary first past the post boolshet?

I would say FPTP is entirely democratic and is a well respected democratic tool.

The fans are the life blood of football. Why shouldn't they be represented equally?

I thought it was Sky and the tv deal?

Anyway, they are represented and each club has its voice heard?

It strikes me that your views are very Orwellian.....you seem to want democracy but with some more equal than others......

westcoast - the attendances actually dropped to about 17k in a match against Motherwell.

'2 teams that support the league' thats a belter!!!!!!!

Dont you even realise celtic have been trying to get away for decades ??? Are you for real?

posted on 12/4/12

The OF support the SPL financially, not the other way round.
Orwellian? Aye when 50,000 get to out-vote 100,000.
Ivan, been on the drink tonight?
Orwellian. FPTP is a political tool alright.

Quebec, what about cup finals??? 1955 was the last time we had a season when the OF didnt get a single trophy, do you think thats healthy?? And even in the nine in a row for rangers celtic still won 3 cups, more than some clubs have ever won.

Sober as a judge

Honestly mate, when are you going to realise that you can't have a league with 2 teams in it? You might well support us, but that doesn't mean that you get to rule us.

I honestly truly hope the 10 clubs resign from this disgusting, money-orientated SPL and rejoin the SFL. We might be poorer for it, but the game in our country will be much healthier as a result.

Football is a sport, sport is about competition, and there is no competition in the SPL.

Quebec, like i said at the start take all the sky money that'll do me i'd rather have no sky money and no OF and all the games at 3pm on a saturday. Then you can join the blue square league and start again Then everyones happy anyway i've got work in the morning, someones got to pay their taxes right

posted on 12/4/12

Ivan, i'd be happy to go back to the SFL if things are not going to change. Would probably buy a couple of bricks at tannadice to give the club a bit of extra cash.

Definitely - that's the thing - they keep saying that the clubs will die if the Old Firm disappear...they won't. People will still go. If we can keep going through 20 years of Old Firm dominated monotony then we can bloomin well keep going when we might have a chance of winning something!

We will survive - maybe as a smaller club, maybe in the equivalent of the League of Ireland, but they'll still be there and I'll still go to Tannadice every second week.

The thing is, no one outside the ugly sisters gives a flying fck about the OF, personally I would like to see the both of them GTF ASAP, i'm sick of the constant keech that spews from the both of them.....If they cant handle a democratic system then pash off and let the rest of us enjoy our football.........Go to engurlund and see how you both are as small fish in a larger bowl!!!!!

Ivan - and all other Arabs - believe me when I say this;

If Celtic & Rangers were to leave the SPL, the league would be semi pro within 12 months.

Hearts would go to the wall, as would probably at least 2 other clubs.

Your own club, who rarely has a sell out at home, even for the OF visits, would possibly survive, but on a far lesser scale.

Reduced TV income (if any).
=
Reduced sponsors (less publicity)
=
Reduced income (added to falling gates)
=
BIG TROUBLE.

It is well known that your chairman has it "in for Rangers" and to a lesser extent Celtic. He suffers from the feeling that Utd should be the leading team in Scotland, with absolutely no evidence to back this up.

This is a shame, as Utd can produce good players & good teams, but with Thompson in charge will always be seen as also rans.

Remember the Golden Rule. He who has the gold, makes the rules.

Cooper, i find it pretty ironic that a rangers man is trying to give out advice on how anything to do with football should be run, dont you???? I mean you support a team with millions of fans and you win trophies every year all the time............................and look at the state your in!!!!!!! Dont you think that maybe you dont actually have a clue of the best option
