just to add.... we were finishing our cans next to our minibus so we could drop them in the bin bag we had there instead of throwing them on the street...

Totally agree with the fines...

Bolton has become a no go zone on an evening and the site of drinking in the street is an unwelcome sight for many people.

You've committed an offence, subject to Common Law I think, so tough....

It's like the driver doing 43 in a 30 and crying over points and fines.... If you choose to do it, accept the consequences if caught...

If you can't walk from one pub to another without a drink, there's a drinking issue that needs to be addressed before worrying over revenue collecting..

PS: I have points, I was caught.. My fault.

But they are talking about poeple outside pubs and in beer gardens mallorca!

Do you not think the law is engineerd to extract money instead of protecting communities?

Do you agree with what the police did with me and my mates? If so, why?

And with the smoking ban....i think they have seen an oppertunity to make more money...

Whats to stop them wading in to scotts or harvester and fining every fan with a beer outside there if they make a slight bit of noise?

posted on 14/4/12

Its the same with speed cameras, ok poeple shouldnt speed but the way they are set up is to catch as many poeple as posible, not to save lives.

If they wanted to save lives they wouldnt be hidden round blind bend or have tiny warning signs about changes in speed limits behind trees or pushed right next to walls as far away from the curb as posdible, in contrast to other road signs.

They are carrying out the laws of the land.... Listen, I ain't calling you a liar but the truth is I wasn't there, and you are hardly gonna be impartial to the discussion..

Group of lads drinking on the streets of Bolton, all are fine and one arrested... Let's see you contest it in court... How can you? Gonna lie and say you weren't drinking, or just have a hissy fit that you disagree with the law??

If its the latter you are guilty, end of....

Do I think it's right???? Yeah I do..

Towns apply for licences to have outside drinking during relevant times of the year like celebrations in some parts... This is good for me...

It's ok saying 'We are decent lads just walking from A to B' - the law was enforced because there are issues with people drinking on the streets hence the law...

Sorry, but can't stand town centres full of drunken half wits and if this law in anyway shape or forms assists in stopping ONE attack, then people like me and you should just adhere to it...

Let me ask you a question... Why can't you finish your drink, then walk to another....?!

They need all these fines to pay for Poor People's Kids to play football because they are on cigs and booze all day....

Stop trying to pigeon hole me Trigger...

You're the one on here talking about kicking off under the scoreboard, trying to cause aggro with away fans and calling United fans 'Munichs' - Don't deny it, you've said it before, and there are plenty on here who remember...

So cut the rubbish giving me grief about my views over issues... Frankly you sound like someone out of shameless but a little less educated... You're laughed at and shouted at on here on a daily basis.... Yet you feel the need to try and give me grief like above and on the football fields thread...

I can't stand Sun reading gobshiotes....

Doesn't make me a bad person though....

"we were in the minibus mallorca. "

You left a pub with an alcoholic drink and boarded a minibus....

Guilty.

Actually Trig, have you read that article??? Have you really read it?

Cut and paste it, then break it down for me explaining the key issues for you that are so wrong..

Go on, crack on... I'm fascinated to know.. I'll be reading my telegraph waiting...

..........

no...

we were on the way to the match, we had just parked up, the cans came from my house...everyone decided to grab one when we were leaving as it was a nice day...

i also stated they were cans... pubs dont sell cans.

i too hate sun reading morons, i also hate the guardian...

just for the record i have a copy of the Independent delivered to my house 5 days a week...

i can see the comparison with shameless though...

they all owned there own house at 25, have a brand spanking new car on the driveway every year and hold down pretty good jobs.

correct - i am under-educated, I dropped out of uni as i got offered the job im doing now and im glad i did to be honest.

we have been through the Munich thing before, im not as bad as people make out you know, yes i say things in the spare of the moment and feel a bit guilty afterwards - same explanation you got last time, feel free to do your usual trawling expedition through years of threads to confirm i reacted like this last time...

mountain - molehill mallorca...

anyway, you played the Munich card last time, your not allowed to use it again...

Sorry trig but I'm afraid you were in the wrong.

Drinking in the streets has been illegal for some time now in an attempt to reduce the drink related violance which was widespread in many city centres of a weekend, including where I live in Peterborough.

And you know what, the ban has made a difference.

As Mallorca says, special events can apply for a short-term licence or lifting of the ban in certain areas but those events have to be properly organised and have very clear stewarding plans in place.

Also beer gardens are classed as part of a pubs property and subject to the same licencing laws as the pub itself.

If one of the officers involved has said to you 'we can do what we want with football fans mate' then that is out of order and you can report that.

However I'm afraid you were in the wrong mate and could end up with a judge deciding to make an example of you if you do decide to take this all the way to court.

“It also sends out a very clear message that intimidating and destructive behaviour fuelled by alcohol will not be tolerated.”
............

we were doing neither of these things...

......................................................................

Everywhere in Bolton will be subject to a Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) from June 1, which means the council, working with the police, can seize alcohol and issue fines of up to £500, if people are caught causing trouble in beer gardens, parks and other outside spaces.

...............

beer gardens and outside spaces???

like i said....scotts bar and harvester on a matchday must look like a gold mine for them...

Trig

I raise the point again, because you've made many many assumptions about me over the last few days which are incorrect... For the benefit of new users and people with poor memories, I want readers of this article to get a full flavour of you while you plead innocence and attack me....

Try having a look at the legislation about vehicles not being allowed to contain alcohol if it's going to a sport event...

See if that assists you in your fight for the 'Bolton 1'

Guilty...

PS; thanks for your CV and BIO info... You sound fascinating..

''if people are caught causing trouble in beer gardens, parks and other outside spaces''

Causing trouble is the key point there. I doubt they would be able to go into the beer garden if there hasn't been a complaint ....

The irony Trig....

Carry on though..... You're fodder fella!

"we were on the way to the match, we had just parked up, the cans came from my house...everyone decided to grab one when we were leaving as it was a nice day..."

Under the Sports Events Control and Alcohol Act 1985 it is an offence to knowingly allow passengers travelling to a sports related event to drink alcohol.

Carry on Trig....

but here again...

we were booked for causing 'alarm and distress' while parked in an industrial estate, being quiet and not causing any trouble.

i know about the law that states you cant drink while travelling to a football match... and i think its bull**** whats the difference between drinking 2 hours before a match in a pub and drinking 2 hours before a match in a minibus?

drinking is drinking...

ive missed you...

i actually think you dont have a real opinion on anything, just the opposite to what others say... i think you just like a good argument...

anyway, im off to buy some cans now and cause some trouble on chorley new rd...

So Trig....

You're guilty then..

Drinking in a coach in an industrial estate before a match..

2 things

1) Pay the fine, you've admitted the offence on here.

2) Get a life and stop drinking in coaches full of blokes in the middle of an industrial estate... Saddo

Trig, with the greatest respect in the world, if I wanted a more challenging argument just to be awkward, I'd find a better challenge by trying it with a plastic guide dog..

I've backed up every point on here, with facts and legislation in some cases..

You've just thrown your teddy out because you got caught drinking Special Brew outside Teds MOT centre living the dream..

neither,

we were parked on the industrial estate NEAR the bromilow arms, about 600 meters from it to be precise (were we usually park) and finishing our cans so we could stick them in the bin bag id took with us before walking to scotts...
