What a player

It's so amusing to see. Good luck to the lad. It's like he's a different player.

Bambi no more!

I always thought Vaz Te would develop to this point, been impressive all season.

I was adamant we had a star in the making at bwfc, it's unfortunate after somewhat breaking into the side, the season after he only got 23 sub appearances and then did his ligaments twice. That's what happens when you sign Nicolas Anelka though.

I hope he gets back to the PL, I think he will score goals there aswell.

think he was worth more as a punt at £500000 than sordell at £3m.

To be honest, way back when we had him the only place I could watch BWFC was on channel 5 in Europe and the brief MOTD bites. As a result I never saw Vaz Te as "Bambi on Ice," I always saw him play well or not at all. That goal he scored in Europe! Wow. So I always took a lot of bashing on old 606 when I said I wanted him to stay.

I think it's brilliant he's finally filling the potential he always had. I mean these goals he's scoring aren't tap in's. One long range effort, one scrapping header and one overhead kick. Would love him back, will never happen though.

Tomkins (U1116) "what a player"

There are two players i always wished we had kept hold of..

Dzemaili and Vaz Te,

I always felt they didnt get much of a chance, but in both cases, they had long term injuries and 'short term' fixes were chosen over bringing them back through.

Dzemaili has done fairly well since leaving us, signing for Parma 8m and this summer he joined Napoli for 9m, and hes been apart of their squad, playing in the CL etc. Vaz Te has shown the potential he has always had, be interesting whether Vaz Te can achieve this in the PL though, i think he can.

These are two players i always thought would go on to do well, i also attribute that feeling to Ngog and Coyle for the future.

Ritchie tyke,
Ill happily eat my words, yeah i wasnt too fussed when we signed him but i loved the fact he proves me wrong.

And maybe that the game i was at was just an off day for him?

Owen Coyle obviously thought it would be better if we kept Robbie Blake.

He has an eye for talent !!

Oh great, let's have a Coyle bashing thread instead.

I consider it a rather pertinent point largehat considering we are discussing Ricardo Vaz Te on the Bolton board.

We have Blake, Tuncay, Sordell & Eaves with squad numbers yet Vaz Te seems to be scoring for fun after we released him for zilch.

Vaz Te spent 7 seasons with us, under no manger did he ever show any sort of form, he played 3 times in the league for us between 2007 and when he was released.

He is playing in a league where many of its best strikers have failed to perform in Premier league, you seem to forget that, don't you?

Oh, right. Let one go for nowt, then pay 3.5mil for one.

Brilliant!

Vaz Te has scored 20 goals in 34 games this season. A very good return but I'm sorry, he's going to need to show that level of form over a longer period and at a higher level to demonstrate we were wrong to release him.

He was rubbish when we had him. Absolutely rubbish. If you can point me to where you bemoaned his release two years ago Bricks, I accept you have a point, but what you're saying reminds me of all these geniuses who are now complaining we didn't sign Yakubu last Summer.

Bricks, Sordell, is only 21 and yet scored a few goals less than Vaz Te, a striker who is in and around his prime for a striker. I know which one I'd rather have.

As Largehat has already said, hindsight is a wonderfull thing, however, Coyle had six months with a striker who wasn't in the team, refused to go out on loan to prove himself, Coyle made the right decision.

No matter how you try to polish it, Coyle has dropped a right one here.

He is the man that sees the guy in training, so how come Allardyce saw something Coyle didn't?

Why was he not played under 3 consecutive managers (Lee, Megson and Coyle) if he is as good as you making out? and did all 3 of them get it wrong?

You have ignored all of my points, Sordell was not brought in to be a quick fix, he is one for the future, Vaz Te is not, he would have had perform straight away.

Also, I see you have not responded to Largehats comment about what you thought at the time, he wasn't in the team, refused to go on loan, what would you have done?

This is up there with your fantastical interpretation of the club accounts, Bricks.

We have a player on our books for seven years. In that time he is injured, rubbish, or rubbish and injured. None of the four managers considered him a first team regular. So he got released. Everybody said "about time - he was a total waste of space".

Two years later he has a trial at a lower league club, after flopping at two other clubs in the meantime, finds some form, and scores a 20 goals in 34 games.

Now, to suit your agenda, you describe this as some sort of clanger by Owen Coyle.

You're unbelievable at times.

moses. I don't think any fan knows why Sordell was brought in.

largehat. When a player isn't played, fans can't make a judgement on a player, only a manager can based on what he sees training & reserve football.

Vaz Te had suffered injuries for a long time and Coyle was probably a little quick to release him whist at the same time bring in Blake & Eaves.

Why else would you bring a 21 year old in? Coyle has already stated, ideally, he would have brought him in, in the summer, but Cardiff were also in for him, so he needed to bring him in sooner .....

Also, yet again, you have answered very few of my points, were other managers wrong, who had plenty of time with him?

Coyle came in, to find a striker, who hadn't played regular football in a number of years, refused a loan move, with six months on his contract, it was the right thing to do.

We haven't had a game for 5 days, the results yesterday went in our favour, so this is your gripe for this weekend.

When Vaz Te played for us, he was both injury plagued and crap, it's as simple as that.

Bringing Sordell, Blake and Eaves into it and your views on them all you want, it's a smokescreen as far as I am concerned.

Sometimes players are late developers, it happens.

Why don't you start a thread blaming Big Sam for releasing Jonathan Walters? Because it doesn't suit your agenda.

Boring.

Vaz Te was always falling with the ball, missed plenty of chances imo.

I never rated him at bolton as a neutral. But he has come on leaps and bounds and i can only say positives about him so far, he has been our best player this season and he only joined in jan

I'm getting fed up of the Sordell bashing. England U21 striker and double figure scorer in the Championship while still in his teens. He is a very good player from someone who has actually watched him. I would expect the reason Coyle hasn't given him much game time is that he is still very young and will need time to adapt to the physical side of the Prem. Might want to watch the kid play before judging him Bricks.
