Viera was an unbelievable player however Keane was even better.

After Cantona I believe Keane is the second most important United player over the past 20 years, an absolute monster of a player. If only we had him in his prime right now, would love to see him have a go at Barca's midfield, always underrated technically if you ask me, a very good passer of the ball and made the players around him better.

keane was a legend who has never been replaced. He was basically sir Alex on the pitch. Great player. Followed his whole career from his debut at liverpool for forest right through to his last game with united. The midfield of 99 is without doubt the best the premier league has ever seen or likely to see. Keane scholes becks and giggs. Had everything. Brings a tear to the eye just thinking about it. What a time.

Keane was only better than Viera at being a thug. Viera was a better footballer and orchestrator with the deft finish of a classy striker. All opinions though.

God decided to shrivel up Patrick's head because he is so good, Patrick isn't scared of Mick McCarthy either because he realised straight was he wasn't scary

To be fair both were nasty players now and then but that was probably needed in their make up to make them the players they were. I think Viera was technically better but Keane was immense, from what I can remember Keane usually came on top when the 2 played against each other, especially in the tunnel at Highbury, Viera lost it psychologically at that point and United won the game comfortably.

Also in Europe I don't really recall Viera bossing games in the same way Keane did, just watch Keane in the Juve semi final and you will see why Keane is such an incredible player, an absolute winner who doesn't even understand the notion of coming second.

Can't comment on robson. Never really say enough of him. Must have been a hell of a player for such an endorsement tho.

Perhaps. I didn't see the likes of Robson so I can't compare but I do hear he was pretty great.

Keane winning his battles with Viera is no different from him dominating Zidane in '99 or Anderson dominating and culling Fabregas. Such battles are usually in favour of the feisty, aggressive, athletic, destructive player rather than the more technical one.

Besides, Arsenal had a good record against United when Viera was here. I'll admit though that Keane had the head-to-head clashes.

Do you guys really think Robson is a better player than Keane, I only got to see the last few seasons of Robson at United so it's a lot harder for me to compare.

I always felt Robson was more the Roy of the Rovers type player, nothing would stop him even if one of his legs fell off, always giving 100% and a player everyone loved. Keane on the other hand I felt was just naturally a more complete player and an absolute winner, but also a man who didn't give a feck what people thought of him.

I guess a big difference is the teams they played in, Robson's United of the 80's don't even compare to Keane's United of the mid/late 90's. Robson's performace against Barca and Keane's against Juve always seem to be the games that sum up both players.

He was probably the most complete footballer England has had since Sir Bobby.

He carried bad England and United teams.

Your point in a way shows the difference between United and Arsenal at the time, we could play some great stuff but ultimately it was about winning which United did more than Arsenal and if that meant being feisty or aggressive then so be it. Either way the United Arsenal rivalry has definitely been the most entertaining since the start of the PL, I have a great deal of respect for Arsenal and Wenger.

Ask Xavi, Iniesta, Zidane for the opinion on Scholes. They basically said he was the best midfielder in the world. You can't argue with players like that. It's like when Pele said Best was the best in the world.

As for Scholes England career. Blame Frank Lampard and the media. They totally destroyed Scholes England career in 2004 with their Lampard campaign.

Marcelo Lippi said if he could have had 1 player it would be Scholes but he never wanted to leave United.

Did you know that Liverpool, have only won one league game when Gerrard has started?

Not surprised, he's not been the same player for a few years now and looks a bit injury prone as well. I've told Liverpool times many times to move on from him, he's useless now. He doesn't dictate the midfield anymore for them, they don't listen and still think he's their messiah.
