999 and Musty'n , constantly Knocking our great manager with any pathetic point , Green has gone, bring in the youth - no brainer
"great manager" - Worst comment I've ever read on here. Including Mcwoanz's drivel
I didn't say I hadn't criticised him, I said I didn't blame him for Green leaving which is what you accused me of;
"..666 seems to have manipulated his thought processes to blame Clough for Green leaving when it seems obvious to most on here that Green's decision to leave is purely financial."
Sorry to quote you, but are these not your own words? Have I somehow misinterpreted them?
Like I said, you either didn't bother to read them or couldn't comprehend them: in either instance, perhaps keeping your own counsel instead of banging on about Obama might have proved the better option.
Vidals: You think Clough wouldn't have mentioned that snippet if that was the case? Or that GSE wouldn't have in that instance cancelled his contract to save themselves the money as a 'mutual consent' clause? Thought about that, did you? Thought not.
Pushing credibility describing Clough as a "great" manager. Achieving stability and a mid table place while cutting the budget demonstrates a degree of competence, nothing more. We will see what he can achieve next season.
Alot of opinionated debate, all good as its what these boards are for. One thing that cannot be denied though and we can all comiserate ourselves with, and agree on, is that our club has very serious lack of ambition problem.
Whether (and I KNOW I shouldnt start a sentence with that) you put that down to poor Management, of the team or the club we should (are we?) all be frustrated and disgusted with it. This is probably why we are all constantly at each others throats.
Anyway, first Cricket Fixture for me in nearly two years tomorra, can't wait to start playing sport instead of worrying and debating it
P.S Serial, have you got ya teflon ready, or are ya gonna be using an overcoat this season?
I wonder if Clough's 'utilisation' of his versatility had a bearing on his decision?
He can't have played more than 25% of games in central midfield.
I'm sure it did, Strider. I remember a recent post match interview where he joked that he was at least in midfield rather than right back but still not in his preferred role.
The right side has been a problem area for a while. Lee Croft, Ben Davies & Paul Green who at least offered energy to the role. We really need a creative player perhaps in the mould of Jamie Ward to complement him on the left.

GSE cannot cancel Green's contract without his consent. Thought about that? Thought not.
In other news, there isn't conspiracy absolutely everywhere. Clough has said previously that he would give Green until the end of the season to give an answer about whether or not he would accept Derby's offer. Clearly Green has told Derby he has had a better offer elsewhere. I expect there are no hard feelings on either side, such is football. Even a remote observer of football such as yourself should be able to see that it doesn't serve any great purpose for Green to play in the last two games, unless Green wanted to say goodbye in a sort of schmaltzy way, and why would he?
There's nothing much to see here, yet you're trying to rake up a dunghill in sadly typical fashion. It can't do any harm to give the likes of Will Hughes (he's a young player we Derby fans have high hopes for, btw) a bit of first-team experience in a relatively low-key game. It's good of you to chip in with your thoughts, but maybe you should leave it to the fans.
To me it seems quite obvious that because Green has decided to move on and our remaining two games are superfluous, besides entertainment and experience, that Green does not help.
He does not need too, nor will he will want to risk to injury.
Clough will want to give the young guns some experience.
No erroneous intent on ether side to my mind.
Vidals:
I know they couldn't cancel it without his consent; that's why I used the word 'mutual'. You were the one suggesting Green may have asked to not be considered for selection, and I suggested Glick would have been agreeable to that IF Green agreed not to be paid.
It's not too difficult to get your head around if you actually stop and think instead of just typing any old garbage to appear contrary to the wisdom and insight of the great 666 for the sake of it.
Sorry too many Taiwan-beer's and a lack of sleep is catching up with me in my old age.
To me it seems quite obvious that because Green has decided to move on and our remaining two games are superfluous, (besides entertainment and experience) that playing Green does not help ether party.
This is because:
He does not need too play to advance himself or ourselves and I doubt he will want to risk another injury.
Clough will want to give the young guns some experience and risk playing someone whom is no longer a full team player.
No erroneous intent on ether side to my mind and Green leaves with my best wishes. He has been a good servant to the club and played some nice football here.

Why on earth would Green agree not to be paid (I think contracts generally run to July so this would be a large sum of money to give up)?
Wow. It's like having Colbi here
YOU suggested Green might not be playing out of choice, to protect himself for Euro selection and his next contract, and if I'd considered this possibility.
I replied that Glick would only permit this IF Green terminated his contract early, because why would he pay him for doing nothing? It would be MUTUALLY agreed then, do you see..? By BOTH parties. Mutually.
How are you not getting this?
Sorry to see him go. Good when played in midfield. We obviously have a very low wage structure now so if he can get more elsewhere in the last few years good luck to him.
I hope we use the young lads for the last 2 games now
Hold on, are we not supposed to be bringing experienced players in, not getting rid of them??? Looks like we are building for the future. All those fans who say they don't think he's not that good, well you make me laugh. Oh, am I allowed to have an opinion?
Lastly this present team will not be finishing in the top 8 as Nigel hinted, we've lost 2 experienced players all ready, Green and Barker.
Let's face it the fact that this dragged on for so long, was it really a surprise?
Good point Wassa, need more experience yet just lost 2 of the most experienced
Lads, don't you think this is a kick in the teeth for season ticket holders, the dead line finished the other day, and apparently we've got 15,000 season ticket holders, then all of a sudden Green has refused to sign a new contract? De javu all over again. GSE out!!!!
It wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if Clough had thrown the toys out the pram and not allowed Green to play in the last two games, everyone knows, or should by now, if he doesnt get his own way your out.
As for next season without our two most experienced players, that would get in other championship team before anyone spouts Roberts. It doesnt look good to me. Yet another championship player we can not afford!! Those who say he isnt good enough for Derby, dont make me laugh, he will no doubt be playing in the 2nd biggest tournament in the world in the summer. How many of our other players will be there??
Im all for signing youth but we need experienced proven players at this level in the spine of the team, not kids from lesser levels
GSE out
I'm one of those that wanted Greeny to stay, but if he did go it wouldn't bother me too much. Rumours have circulated for a while now that we have been tracking the lad from Bournemouth, Pugh !? A right winger, similar ilk to Jamie Ward. Will not get fans jumpin up and down but it wouldn't surprise me if this was greens replacement.
How I see it is we've put an offer on the table, it does not match his ambitions or wage demands, the latter being the likely case so we move on and do does he, quite simple. Nigel made it clear a few week ago that Will Hughes and Mason Bennett were likely to get another chance before the seasons out to showcase there abilities. Greens loyalties now lie elsewhere therefore yes take him out of the team and give Will Hughes a chance who wants to play for the club and impress. We have Wardy who can play wide right, B. Davies or Tys on the left or maybe Hughes as I believe he's left footed not sure which position centrally or out wide. It makes sense!
