As a football fan as well, using a transfer fee and wages is one barometer of whether a player is a success. You wouldn't go to a film and go 'well he wasn't worth the money' because they shot it over a load of months, it's not going out live in front of you. The stuff that is, like gigs, you have a direct link with wanting to see the person or people on stage. When you support a club you generally want to see your team, not necessarily individual players.

TCW but you must know he earns more?

I do now. Probably would have said that he did as well. Because footballers only end up in the low to mid tens of millions at best usually.

Who's the richest footballer in the world then?

TCW you are missing the point. I am not talking about individual football fans criticizing individual players' wages. I am talking about how there is a general acceptance in society (including non-football fans) that footballers as a whole are overpaid.

Well then I must exist outside of society.

Beckham, Ronaldo then Messi.

You asked a question: why do people criticise footballer wages but not musicians/actors?

I've given you my personal answers.

Yes but your answers are only relevant to football fans and footballers of the same club.

Not all of them. Like

'As a football fan as well, using a transfer fee and wages is one barometer of whether a player is a success.'

Why does that have to be intra club?

posted on 4/11/13

In fact, only my last point is relevant to intra club support.

But it ignores the bigger question (my question).

Every time I see something on my timeline I switch back to ja606 to see Arab discussing it on here

Also footballers have an obscene variation in quality of performance based on a huge number of variables. Sometimes you get more than market value, sometimes less.

The only comparable situation I guess is if a band or someone does a gig drunk, or turns up late or etc... But sometimes people get some or all of their money back in that situation

I forgot how good Walkers cheese and onion crisps are.

I think the simple answer is that there is more fanboyism/fangirlism with actors/musicians than footballers. It is more inidivudalistic. Whereas football is a team sport so you can only look at things holistically. It would also explain why no one cares that Tiger Woods and Federer earn obscene amounts.

The simple answer is... There's no simple answer think there are a few different things at play.

Not good, not good.

Sky broadband and phone went off this morning, so I phoned in and they said there wasn't any power going to the phone (sky TV is fine) so I had a look at the master socket (where the filter for Broadband and phone is plugged in)

The cable has snapped altogether from the filter, so we have no broadband or phone, no idea how much it'll cost to fix, not sure if it's going to be cheaper calling Sky or see if an electrician can do it on the cheap side.
