No, I through it away!
Steve Martin - Planes, Trains and Automobiles(airport scene)
I still get a bit choked up at the end of that film.
Wonder if there's the same 2000 comment limit on ja606, or if this article will just keep going...
Big John Candy - sadly missed
i hope it just keeps on going. It would end up being some sort of great time capsule. Could go back to find who was around forever. What we predicted..etc.

Is 'soccer' getting bigger in the States?
It wont grow until there is a glamour surrounding it. There is no celebrity other than Beckham. Kids look up to people in the spotlight and the media does it's best to keep anything the MLS does out of the highlights(there isn't much they can put in to be fair).
That said, there is a very solid and hardcore following emerging. Fans are very loyal to their local teams which is all we can ask for really. Even if there aren't too many.
Then there are the euro snobs. Barca, utd, Chelsea, liverpool(dwindling), real madrid, bayern....they show up for champions league games and then fall back into their caves when the going gets rough.
All in all with baseball, american football and basketball dominating I don't see" soccer" truly challenging for a long while.

It also hardly ever requires the use of a foot.
The size of America an away season ticket would get you some air miles
There'd almost no away support in america. Everything is waaaay too far from each other. Home Depot Center is 40 miles from me and that's local.
Just reading that we should have a reply to our bid for De Bruyne before next week from Genk.

I agree that we should be rotating our team, but as we have seen in the last 4 years the same team is always put out. Players like Lampard, Terry, A. Cole and Essien are more or less guaranteed starters. We never rotate our team unless there are injuries or the players are out of form. Whereas Manchester United always rotate there team even after a win.
If we have 7 midfielders fighting for 3 spots in the team then surely they are going to be some unhappy players at Chelsea. Just like we have seen this season with Zhirkov and Kalou talking about the lack of first team action.

Is Donovan not someone else the Americans follow? Very good player actually, think he should have thought more about staying permeently at Everton. He's also top-scorer for your national team of course as well. I know he doesn't really have a-list celebrity status like Beckham but is he not quite popular?
Zhirkov was always getting injured, or maybe didn't play through pain.
Not sure if Terry and Lampard would do that. Even Ashley Cole says he was playing in pain this year. Must be a British thing.

What I meant is what you admitted to knowing. He is not an A list celebrity. Really good player and I wanted him to stay at Everton, as did most of their fans it seemed.
However he is not marketed like Beckham is, which means children do not grow up idolizing him. Most real fans do appreciate him however.

How many times was Zhirkov injured anyway? Plus, he said he was ready to play and was in full training but was not given full clearance by the medical staff. I expressed his frustration in an interview. Should've been given a longer run of games. Malouda had the entire season and never impressed.

Steve -
Any gossip about Robben?
Is he on the move again?
Gazza I agree with you about the rotation. But do you think Hiddink will rotate the squad? If we go on a winning run for 7 or 8 games will the squad be rotated during that time? Can't see it happening.
Lampard should be rotating but do you see it happening? Lampard will always want to start every game and I can't see the manager dropping him.
Stan - Nothing new on him, seems happy at Bayern for now despite them not being in the Champs League.
I agree with Frank Leader
I can see Frank as a bit of a problem. I reckon he wouldn't take to it well with being sub. He's so used to playing all the time. Even when he plays pants. Joe Cole kind of said it that players did at Chelsea, even when bad.
