Would've liked to see Bats in this game - he's the only other player in our team who actually looked switched on in the box when he has the ball.

It really is the thin end of the wedge though...when Bats is the answer
Hello Sherriff, not such a strange remark now ay?
I guess we can lose some of these type of games when you’re in a battle for top 4. Need to concentrate on the cups.

minididi I'd have liked us to do something different rather than our standard attacking changes of Pedro on for a CM then Willian on for a wing back. West Ham didn't seem remotely phased or surprised by it.
But Conte tends to stick with plans until they don't work then change them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True - to be honest the changes he made spoke of a poor starting line-up rather than in-game pressures. 3-5-2 with Zappa and Alonso on the wings and Baka in midfield meant we had poor attacking options out wide and little thrust through the middle from the start. I can understand his reluctance to start Fab and Kante in the midfield from the start but a 3-5-2 with those three players is not the answer.
I'd like to see a starting line-up of Bats up top with Morata and Hazard in behind. All three play best when they have players close to them. Only issue is who do we put at wingback to provide width and who goes in midfield to provide solidity?

An attacking CM would also do if we want to carry on with this 352 formation.

3 at the back is such a negative formation, I am not a fan of it. Relies so heavily on attackers form.

I think the recent swathe of 3ab in PL looks boring a lot of the time because managers stick any random player at wingback

I have some faith in Bats but only because the rest of our current crop of attacking squad players are so dire. Pedro needs a run of games to really contribute (but he's not going to get that with our formation change) and Willian... well the less said the better. After them, who do we have?
Liverpool have Firmino, Coutinho, Mane, Salah who are all top level attackers.
City have Sane, Stirling, Jesus, Silva, de Bruyne, Aguero and Bernardo Silva
That's the kind of quality and depth in attack we need if we want to challenge on multiple fronts. At present only Hazard and Morata are on the same level as those mentioned above. Bats, Willian and Pedro simply aren't good enough for where we want to be.
^well at least partly because of that.

You will have to change that fantasy now
‘To speak about the title race after a defeat is a bit strange, especially if this is the fourth defeat of the season, after 16 games. When you have that it’s impossible to think you are in the race, my experience tells me if you want to stay in the race in the first part of the season you can lose once or twice.
‘After 16 games, if you lose four it means you never got started. We started with a defeat at home to Burnley. We lost another game, against Man City, but we have reasons to justify that. Then when you lose to Crystal Palace, who were bottom, and West Ham, who are in a bad position, you can lose points in these games but it means you are not in the title race.'

Does Conte think we now can't play 3-4-3 from the start because we don't have anyone who can partner Kante like Matic last season so we have to play 3 in midfield so we have to play 3-5-2 so Hazard and Morata have to start up front and we can't start either Pedro or Willian?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we do miss Matic then?
I've not used the word 'title' and us in the same sentence this term I don't think...
Are we on telly on Tuesday ?
I'm hoping not
