I get what you mean npe, a lot of people described Italy as lockdown and then there was confusion when Lombardy region escalated their ‘lockdown’ recently as many thought they were already doing it. You could argue we’re already on some form of ‘lockdown’ given that social spaces are all closed.

Does anyone know the rules in Italy and Spain when it comes to driving? I get that it seems travel on foot is regulated with forms and drones but how do they regulate driving? Do they need forms? Regular checkpoints? Or is it not checked. In theory you can adhere to the required social distancing rules and still be driving.

Some hope / think this will end in nationalisation of railways

I think we’ll be in full lockdown from Friday night I think even forgetting the worst will start Friday, thinking about it logically last week the government basically sorted out the package for businesses and mortgages, I reckon this week they’ll sort out and finalise the package for the self employed & private renters, as they’ve got to do that before a full lockdown
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Define full lockdown, it's a stupid bit of journalese that doesn't describe actual specifics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
all shops shut
no one allowed outside apart from the police and military
forced quarantine

Has full lockdown worked in Italy and Spain ? Not at all sure it has.
Also being forced to stay in your home for an extended period will cause a lot of people to lose their marbles. Especially the poor sods stuck in small accomodation.

How do you deliver food to everyone? Which workers are allowed out other than police and military?
Everyone wants to save lives. Just questioning whether a full lockdown has helped the likes of Italy and Spain that much.

In Spain everyone is still allowed to go to the supermarket everyday despite full lockdown

I don't think that will work as intended, and I remain opposed to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
course it wont work in full, but it will work for the majority, to put a lockdown in place it needs to be enforced and run buy fear of jail or penatly that was msot peope wil stay in
and the idiots who continue to go out into crowded places will, contract the disease, pass it to their grandparents / parents and kill them or themselves OR got to prison / get fine.
It is that facking simple
the people who are crowding supermarkets right now are all brainless idiots, to a man.
in every zombie movie there is a hoard of zombies if this was a zombie apocalypse, those idiots will be the first turned.

Well as we were talking yesterday, there’s a balance. Yes to protect the public health interests for coronavirus but also a real factor that enforcing lockdown would have equivalent or worse health and social outcomes if you too far in the other direction.

A lot of people are going to suffer considerably in those conditions and not just people with existing mental health conditions.

oh great
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a lot more regulated than that
Superb Italy has still got another rough 8 days left to come of 4,000-5,000 new cases and 500+ deaths but they are beginning to flatline / keep at that consistent number now
As I said from Friday we have 26 days of nastiness before we begin to flatline
Takes 26 days to flatline not 14 days then after 26 days it will gradually reduce daily back to 2,000’s and under for 9 days then hit triple figures for a week then down to double digits.
The whole thing takes about 43 days. In about 41 more days we will be back to double digit increases

Yep, it is just worth considering. I also believe it is correct to factor in economic loss when considering 'lockdown'. Again, any metric of economic success is proportional with improved health outcomes. If countries save 100% of coronavirus patients but come out in some severe economic disaster, well, a lot more people are going to die, slip into major chronic health conditions and other non-medical social issues.
