The only takeaway from this game is that Lampard has made it clear he needs more time to find a winning formula. I understand that you don’t want to play to the oppositions strengths, but if 4-2-3-1 is going to be our set-up why acknowledge it’s flawed whenever we face a better team?

Tbf he has a direct example of how it doesn't work vs. United right now with last season's 4-0 defeat despite playing very well.

Take your point though. We always look defensively vulnerable playing 4231 w/Lampard.

I expect a faster tempo at the beginning of this half, but not sure how long it will last.

A big game against a top team. That is worrying if so.

I think he's very good in and around the box but useless outside of it.

Obviously I've not seen a massive amount of him yet, but that's what I've taken from my experience so far.

In a game like today most of the time we're not going to be pinning them too far back so he doesn't get involved. That's why I went into Southgate mode and wanted Mount to start today.

Ideal for home games against weaker sides who sit back but not convinced otherwise.
