Surely this is the game where he sees the value of Chilwell over Alonso

Disappointing half. We actually started quite well, better than I thought. Some decent moves going forward where it was clear how much space Mount, James, Werner etc. Could have. We regressed as the half went on and by the end looked nearly as insipid as vs Barnsley and Sheffield.

Once again dunno whether by design or it just is but I get the feeling the players (defenders GK, circulating around the back) are favouring keeping possession over riskier more progressive passes, and yet we’ve looked our most dangerous the few times we did break their press as you’d expect.

It doesn’t help with two pretty negative FBs. My usual criticisms for them both. Alonso in particular..he plays like this every match. Losing ball, being slow. It hinders us.

Tammy as much as I think fans are harsh on him defo poor so far today.

Kova quieter

Kante some loose balls but excellent otherwise. Good choice for this match.

I would be looking to take Alonso off. Chilwell would be the standard change but I’d be wanting CHO especially as we’re chasing the game.

Poor players are poor players. It’s not surprising. We keep getting to final third and players are messing up passes, kante should have played to mount, Werner poor ball to alonso, alonso waiting a year to cross it and getting blocked and other examples. It’s not on the manager when that happens. Our players are just not good enough at this current time

Joe Cole decent analysis of where it went for that goal. First time in the game they had so much space and options in middle third, Kova and Zouma switch off
