Only current purpose is the line for taking goal kicks.

I have heard that it was originally brought in back in the very olden days as a safety box for the keeper to stop players ramming him into the goal with the ball in his hands. But that could be an old wives tale.

Ok interesting, I know that back in those times it was common for keepers to be pushed into the goal when they were holding or catching the ball and for the goal to stand.

Are we really signing Grealish? I've been seeing lots of links. Would be an incredible signing for Chelsea FC.

Yes, I could do with researching it.

Also remembered that indirect free kicks can't take place in the six yard box.

Remember when Jorginho nearly scored an own goal for us vs Arsenal before Kepa pushed it away, only for Smith-Rowe to score.....the ref played advantage.

He could have given Arsenal an indirect free kick for Kepa handling a back pass and even though that was on the goal line, the indirect freekick for Arsenal would have taken place on the six yard line instead, with our players standing on the goal line.

Ok yeah, freekicks in the box are very rare aren't they. Players don't seem to know what to do with them when they're given.

I have seen reports suggesting we are interested in him.

I am merely theorising this might mean Havertz/Giroud are our strikers and we get Grealish to play alongside Mount.

I can certainly live with that. If/when we need another striker then we can get one in future windows.

Grealish would score and create plenty for us anyway. Would take the scoring burden off Havertz.

Grealish could really help us underperform xG by even more than we have been

Maybe but don't you think that with all those increased chances per game even our guys will up their goal tally ?
