I genuinely think this gameplan works if the CMs have better days.

City pressed brilliantly, but they usually do. Kante and Kova are great at breaking a press in midfield and, had they managed that with their usual regularity, we would have consistently had 2v2 against their CBs.

James going off was a big loss as I felt Azpi really struggled vs Cancelo and Grealish.


Alonso just isn't the right player for these types of games when you have to be able to get up and down the pitch at speed.

Tuchel should've reintroduced Chilwell earlier in the season, to get him ready for these sorts of matches.

I think Tuchel was a bit restricted by the forced-sub for James' injury. He would've probably have been more willing to switch things up at half time if he still had all 3 subs left

Dias and Ederson were good but we also let ourselves down with our final pass. Too many throughballs were over/underhit today
