Well it looks like it put us off getting him before so there's no reason to assume that wasn't the same for other clubs.

Obviously things have changed now due to him being in the last year of his contract. Palace would have to sell if a half decent offer came in. And Zaha would definitely come to us you feel.

Regarding us playing a back four I don't see any reason why we can't. RJ and Chilwell can just as easily play as conventional fullbacks.

I've never been overly keen on a back three anyway. It makes us less potent going forward you feel. And I thought Tuchel originally deferred to a back three as a temporary measure to stop the rot when he first came in.

Seems we've been married to it ever since though with mixed success in the PL.

Well Koulibaly is very capable of playing in a two CB system and we're looking to bring in at least one more CB. As for DM De Jong could fill that role if we sign him.

I’m with you apart from De Jong at DM. Don’t think he fits what we need there

It’s mad when you think that this window could actually end up with Christensen, Azpi and Alonso having joined Barca from Chelsea, Barca having taken Raphinha and Koundé ahead of Chelsea along with re-signing Dembele and then the cherry on top of Chelsea having helped Barca out of their debt to De Jong by signing him lol

I keep hearing how good he is defensively even if he isn't characterised as a DM as such. I think the old fashioned out and out sitting DM role is being phased out anyway. You need to bring much more in terms of all round game in that role now.

Basically need Rice for that role but West Ham have priced him out of a move this summer.

De Jong is more like a Jorginho, probably an athletic version. Could potentially be a DM but I don't think it's his best position

I doubt we'll get De Jong anyway. Barca are involved which means that we're going to get shafted in any transfer involving them this window.

You would think people would see those players willing to go to such a poorly run club as the mugs but whatevs

There was a noticeable shift in Werner’s attitude around midway of last season where he looked defeated. He put on a brave face for a while during his struggles and he probably believed he would get through it…sadly though wasn’t to be. He probably just wants a fresh start elsewhere.
