I've been saying for months I thought we were going to cheap out on a no name striker this summer.

It does make you wonder if top four is even the aim anymore under this ownership. Or are we just here now to develop younger players and then sell them on for a profit?

Boehly was the one who talked about success on the pitch being the biggest priority but unless anyone's missed it Boehly has been sidelined at the club and his voice doesn't appear to carry anywhere near as much weight now. If it did Poch would still be here.

im sort of with you

But then why would we spend record money on enzo and caicedo, thats what hurts my head

in any way what i find funny is of all the "big name strikers" we have been linked with Jackson has the better metrics, jackson is going to be class, i dont know in what world people think he did badly in his firsrt season? at 22 in a new league i think his contributions were more than good enough now hes a year older and year more experienced, i think that john Duran who has alot of good attributes, would be a good 2nd to jackson.

Jackson brings a hell of alot top the table and like ive said before his lack of composure is not something that cant be improved.

Hes a quality player and will score more next season

Should go for Toney at 40 mil as he doesn't impact Jackson long term.

Having two young and inexperienced strikers isn't ideal but I guess this is how we seem to be moving going forward.

That happened when Boehly was the biggest voice at the club. Things have changed since then with Boehly and Egbhali seemingly falling out. Let's see if we spend £100 million on any new players now that Egbhali appears to be steering the ship.

Andrey Santos is staying at Chelsea next season. One source at Chelsea said: “Stylistically, Santos is a perfect fit to play under Enzo Maresca. His ball retention is out of this world. He can play as a No 6 or a No 8 — so he is versatile.”

If we go for Duran I reckon it means they want to go back for Sesko next summer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's about to sign a big contract extension with Leipzig meaning they can charge what they want next summer, more so if he has another good season.

Gentleman’s agreement apparently

Although Brighton have shown us that those mean fk all so I don’t get why players are still putting their futures in other people’s hands like that

To be fair Ceicedo improved immensely in the latter stages of the season and Enzo has had corrective surgery so we might see a partnership this season

I think we definitely will although that wasn't really what we were talking about tbh. We were talking about whether Boehly being sidelined means that the main priority at the club is now developing players for profit as opposed to trying to win things on the pitch under Egbhali. Who now seems to be steering the ship.

I hope they do - first of all because he’s a decent player. But also because it implies that Chelsea think they can pass the FFP rules test without selling him.

Out of all the players that are or have been linked with a move away the only one that I'm really upset with is Maatsen as I think he's got the skill set to be world class. Chalobah and Gallagher I'd quite like to keep but if they leave then it's not the end of the world.

Maatsen…I mean I think he’s been decent at times but I wouldn’t go that far in saying he could be world class. Maybe I’m just not seeing what you see.

For us I agree he hasn't shown it , at Burnley he was amazing and at Dortmund the few games I did watch of theirs he was either there best player or one of their best.

I don't think Maatsen is world class or ever will be world class but he's a very good player. And one that we definitely should have utilised more this season, whether it was in his natural position or in more attacking positions when we had so few attacking options in the first half of the season.

Definitely one of Poch's biggest mistakes and I'd suggest a contributing factor as to why he's not here still as we may have finished higher. There's no way these owners could have parted ways with Poch if we'd have got that 4th spot.
