Probably another game where Palmer didn't really do a lot... Nor Salah minus the penalty at least we're above Spurs

Defence won't improve when you have a mad man behind you in net

Thoroughly dissatisfying match. Liverpool were certainly not leagues above us. If we'd used our subs a bit more effectively then we could have put them under better pressure in the last 20 mins. Nkunku struggled on the wing, Neto was busy but ineffective and Enzo was essentially a ghost. Perhaps pushing Palmer out to the RW would've given Liverpool something different to think about and we could have kept Nkunku a bit more central to impact the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually I feel more positive for us after that

Can't decide if Liverpool weren't great or if they just managed us at 2-1 and could have gone up a few gears if needed.

Main areas are defensive organization and self belief - both hopefully will come in time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately defence won't improve until a window, as it's a personnel issue. Again I can't see how anyone with a sense of football let's Trev and Silva go and not replace them, dumb doesn't even cover it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Defence still an obvious worry but with the firepower we have in attack, I think we can somewhat compensate for it (if we play to their strengths)

Reality is Newcastle at home and United away are bigger games for us right now.

Goes hand in hand with my dissatisfaction. That match proved we're not that far behind - just needed to impose ourselves a bit more the final third

I don't think it was tactical like you do. I just think these are mostly young, raw players that don't yet have the belief to win at Anfield. Will come in time.

The manager is also learning too, which is worth remembering.

I like Lavia and Caicedo pairing and I don't think we lose creativity throught it either. Just so happened that Palmer was crap today.

I suspect the 2nd but that in itself is encouraging, their defence was solid but still showed us a lot of respect. Think that period from us before the 1st goal earned that.

If this was Klopp's Liverpool, I'll betting that ends a draw.

Honestly don't think Liverpool had gears to go up with that team. They are the prems RM, couple of decent attackers who can get the goals. We were comfortably passing thru them, they however can always hurt in the counter. At the end of the day a decent defence deals with their second, everyone just stood still when Collys arm went up and looking at Nunez......football 101 play to the whistle

Mentality is a big thing but we definitely could've used our players better. Nkunku struggled but I don't think that was because of the size of the occasion.

My only worry from the game is the Palmer performance.

I know the CBs and GK isn't good enough. Palmer being a ghost was a little alarming.

Caceido is actually far more creative than most people give credit. And playing next to someone like Lavia gives him the security to push forward more and affect the game. Made some really good passes in behind as well as line breaking dribbles

In all honesty, I've been worried about the amount of noise around him since the start of the international break. Have seen expectation weigh down even the best of players

Also,Jackson took his goal well. Fully expected him to miss it

Not worried about Palmer, we probably just have high expectations every game but got to remember he's still a kid.

The defence and GK are a massive concern going forward for me, instills zero confidence

Pool did a good job of congesting the space around Palmer, and we weren't good enough to exploit the space left out wide as a result.

One thing Palmer will have to get used to is not just being extra marked by opponents, but the whole saga that comes with being a top player.

Media praise has gone into overdrive and now he’s starting for England, under even more spotlight. Last season he was universally liked, even by rival fans, but I think he’s getting so much attention now that he’s under extra scrutiny, and I think people are waiting for him to fail so that he can be blasted as overrated, and for people to turn on him.

Yep - honestly can't see how we started this season without a new keeper and at least 1 cb

My worry is he gets crowded out of the game at no10 too often.

Brighton was a special case game with a suicidal high line — other games he has seemed more muted.
