RVP will or will not want to leave, but Arsenal won't let him. In a years time he'll be approaching 30 and won't be a viable option for anyone else.
Plus he owes us, big time.
If we can't match his ambition in the transfer market then he'll leave for sure.
On Sky this morning the Chairman of the football writers association said that RVP indicated to him that he wanted to sort his contract out before the Euros and that he didn't want to leave.
I think it's almost certain he is at the very least seriously considering leaving.
The only reason in his circumstances not to extend his contract now is either because he wants to leave or he is waiting for reassurances in the form of transfers early in the transfer window taht will give him a greater chance of winning trophies with Arsenal.

Is this really true?!

He signed a 5 year deal in Fifa for me so clearly this means that he will commit in real life.
I think his family is settled in the UK
HE MUST THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
Apparently he had a meeting with representatives from Juventus so he definitely is considering other options.
i'm pretty sure he'll stay
Of course we want him to stay.
But who in their right mind wouldn't consider playing with the likes of Di Maria, Benzema, Ronaldo, etc, instead of Gervinho and Ramsey.
I think he's considering leaving- we can say that simply because he hasn't said 'I want to stay' in any interview yet....
If the media is to be believed,he as been offered 120k per week,is adored by the fans,is settled in London, why would he not want to stay,
Well so City offer 200k per week, its a no brainer.

I don't think he would do that. He's only a against other teams, not against Arsenal.

This is 2012, since when are footballers loyal? Rooney, Torres to name but two.

I think this is quite likely. If we secured 3rd place, expected most of our transfer to be done within 2 weeks.
Not sure how many players but should be decent enough to comvince him to sign a new deal.
why would he not want to stay

To win stuff.
Remeber the last time RVP stalled on a contract. He said he wanted the club to show ambition but we never really did in the end, we sold Ade and Kolo that Summer and only brought in Vermaelen. This time he wants proof that we are going to be ambitious. That is why we are making our transfer deals earlier than usual and why his contract will be sorted before the Euros.
Isn't it tapping up if a player meets with another club while still under contract?

This is the kind of rumour I would love to be true
Why has it not been renewed much sooner, would be the obvious question?
Players renew contracts during the season all the time with it having absolutely no influence on their form on the pitch. After all the player pretty much signs his name and that is it.
RVP has ambition. He wants us to show ours. Nothing wrong with that. Plus he's in a very important stage of his career and this could potentially be his last big earning contract. Nothing wrong with him securing his future.
RVP
