Liverpool fans are so deluded. They think just because they beat us three times this year, that they have better 11. The fact of the matter is they have one world class player that has been carrying them for years. He should have moved on to make something of his career and win buckle loads of titles, but fair play to the man stayed loyal. The fact is when he retires or finally decides enough is enough and moves on, they will be a mid table team at best. Possibly only one more player good enough to get near our first team and he is a horrible, little, cheating, ratface that I would not want anywhere near our club.

I've never really understood Everton fans saying how long it has been since we won the league.

Considering Everton used to be a big club and were winning leagues at the same time with arguably the best side in Europe what exactly is Evertons excuse?

They have a similar sized ground, are the "peoples club" and were in the top two of the Country in 85, 86 and 87 and being FA Cup finalists 4 times in five years.

So why do Everton fans think it is reasonable to attempt to mock us when in reality you were a massive club with good backing that has achieved literally nothing for about 20 years.

What's Evertons excuse?

I'm sure you know nothing about football if you believe Everton have had good backing in the last 20 years

The answer you were possibly looking for is years and years of mismanagement whilst never recovering from not being able to compete on the European stage resulting in utter bitterness and articles such as this.

Good backing,GOOD FOOKING BACKING .

We haven`t got a carrot you loon

Robbing hood, while attempting to mock you are 100% correct, the ban in europe quite possibly hurt us more than any other english team, plus the fact that the moores family fortune was transferred from Everton to the RS didn't help,

Why didn't you just say that then Robin

Robbing Hoody - seeing as you brought it up, yes, that was the start of our demise, brought about by a set of wall pushing thugs

It took Germany less time to recover from economic destruction after the second world war, than its taken Everton to get over not being in the european cup for maybe one year in 1986.
As for the original question, who got the better deal, well, if Liverpool win the FA Cup, you would have to say Liverpool did.
To win 2 of the 3 domestic trophies available, in one season, would be a triumph for everyone involved.
Fair play to Everton, they bought some decent players, who, unfortunately, will probably never win a thing with Everton, and eventually move on to other clubs in search of success, whilst making a profit for the club, who can then set the wheels in motion, to continue to win nothing, season after season, for many years to come.
So ultimately, in terms of possible revenue made from future transfer profit, Everton may do better, whilst Liverpool on the other hand, look set to add another trophy to the 10 they have won, since everton last managed to pick up silverware back in 1995.

I'm not trying to mock at all. In fact it is the contrary. What I said was I will never understand Everton mocking us for going so long without winning the league when the toffees have been even longer.

Throw in the fact that we at least have won trophies in the last 17 years I think it's fair to say that such jibes are rather hypocritical.

We won the league in '87 as well, so it was twice. We were widely regarded as one of the best sides in Europe in '85, so who knows what would have happened in the EC in '86 & '88.

Domestically we were all conquering & the lack of European football resulted in us losing some of our top players to Scotland & Europe, as well as our manager. As they wanted the challenge that Europe provided.

That was the start of our demise, yes, many poor decisions were taken in the following years, but you can trace the slide of EFC from the top table, to Heysel - whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

It only two years that separate winning the league for these two big clubs.

Tobe is right, the exodus of top players for European football cost us big time.

========================================
Tracing a slide over a period of 27 years is a little desperate dont you think ?
We can all point to periods in our past, were things didnt go in our favour, whether it be in regard to our football clubs, or our personal lives.
But human nature being what it is, we hopeully, dust our selves down, and move on.
Continuing to make reference to an incident that undoubtedly had a huge impact in footballing terms, for Everton FC, which happened 27 years ago, to some how use in direct correlation, to explain your current, or recent failure to move forward, is quite simply, ridiculous.

Ahh but they didn't have Peter Johnson running things did they.

I lay part of the blame at his door, with so much shade surrounding his business dealings at the club, I'm surprised we didn't have 40000 Germans turn up at Goodison at 7am and try to claim it with their beach towels.
