We would still need a goalscoring striker.

Not to worried about a striker tbh, i have a feeling that carroll and suarez will be ok next season and i reckon kd will bring someone in; as i said not worried i am sure it will be sorted.

Ramirez, sorry mate who is this and what position does he play?

posted on 28/4/12

22yr old uryguan midfielder of quality, probably a friend of suarez and coates since they all play for uruguay

Ramirez I haven't seen enough of to know really but I have genuine doubts about Aqua. He seems to split fans, personally from what I saw he wanted too much time on the ball and didn't put the running in. Granted he'd just come back from injury but since then neither Juve or AC want to keep him playing in a league he should be comfortable in. At best I'd say it was a punt to rely on him next year and it's not one I'd take.

Its a fair point "last one". Although it maybe the transfer cost that ltd the transfer. Lets not forget at roma he was one of italys top midfielders before his move to us.

I would quite like a team with gerrard.suarez.aqua.lucas.ramirez in it!

Aqua is better than most of our midfield players. He proved that in pre season matches. This rough and tough mentality of some fans is plain crazy. At present we have a lot of rough, tough, steel with no skill players. We need a few players in Aquilani's mold and if we happen to have him then I say give him a chance. John Henry is convinced he can do the job-remember that famous twitter comment on Aquilani after an eye popping performance in one of our pre season games. He was our best player in those pre season games but did not play a single league match till he was loaned out. Entertaining the thought that Henderson, Adam, Spearing, are better options is footballing suicide.

that's my point strong.....EXACTLY

He was good at Roma but Morientes was good at Madrid, Veron at Lazio, Shevchenko... well you get my drift.

Not sure when his contract ends but this could be out last chance to get some cash for him. I understand why you'd like to see him back because there's clearly talent there, I just don't believe we will see enough of it on the pitch. I'd cash in and move on. Personally I'd be interested in seeing what Erikson does this summer, lots of big clubs have sniffed about but I could be that the first one to actually follow up and bid will get him.

I didn't mention rough or tough. You don't need to be a man of steel, you do need to act quickly and put the miles in on the pitch - I didn't see either in a competitive game.

He may have more talent than some of the other midfield options but that doesn't necessarily make him the best option. Joe Cole probably has more talent than all our midfielders and wide players, including Aqua. Why not bring him back?

Last........cole maybe coming back as well!!

Yeah I know, not sure that's great news either. Two players who'd rather not be with us! Hopefully we can move both of them on, for our sake and theirs.

Sorry, but performances in friendly games mean very little in the scheme of things. In fact they mean sfa.

Aquilani hasn't been good enough for Juventus and it appears he hasn't been good enough for AC Milan. Currently imo Italian football isn't quite at the level of the premiership so what makes you think he would be good enough for us in a league which is quicker and more physical than Seria A?

The sad truth is that the transfer of AA thus far has been shambolic and an utter waste of cash. Technically he looks an extremely proficient player, but if he really was the player some Liverpool fans make him out to be he would have been taken by the two Italian clubs who had him on loan or would have not have been loaned at all.

Furthermore it appears that he has no desire to play for us. The manner in which his agent tarted him around Italy certainly suggests this is the case. Last summer he would have been sold to a local Italian resuarant if Aqua's agent had his way.

As it stands, the transfer of Alberto Aquilani must rate up there as one of the worst and least effective transfers ever by LFC. Let's get rid and hopefully the whole sorry saga can soon be forgotten.

I do think he is worth a chance next season, if he is willing to play for us. However I agree with Paisley regarding the pre-season games, they do mean completely nothing. This has been proven in the past by Andriy "king of pre-season" Voronin.

Got to agree mate. Its been an embarassment to be honest. As much as I would like to see if he can make it here I think it would be better if we just moved on. Same for Cole as well

Joe cole couldn't lace Aquilani's boots.

Clearly you can't have been watching when Aqua started playing for us after his injuries.

Several times he was man of the match for us in a much better squad than we have now.

Unlike Morientes, Veron, Shevchenko, etc Aquilani has already shown he can perform in the prem.............

Sorry but the transfer of Alberto Aquilani was an inspired move.

It's the way he has been treated, specifically by that idiot woy, that has been the embarrasment and caused all the problems.

If we keep losing players of this calibre no wonder we're languishing in 8th place

We certainly need to get a few midfielders, at least (3) and a striker in.

In all honesty i don't know much about Gaston Ramirez, i've heard decent stuff about the lad but can't go by that alone.

Aqua is a difficult one, personally i would keep him if we were getting rid of Spearing, Henderson, Adam, Downing, Kuyt, Maxi from midfield, but we aint so no point talking about the lad.

Who knows who we're getting rid of.

Hopefully not Aqua.

Aqua will go, though I don' know where. Cole will stay in France, and will accept a lower salary. Neither want to come back to us. Reality.

Yeah, whenever he got the ball I closed my eyes.

As I said AA splits fans and we clearly don't agree. I think, talented player as he is, he dwelt on the ball and didn't put nearly enough work in. If you think a couple of good games means prem proven then that's up to you - I obviously disagree.

As a side issue I think Cole is/was a very talented player who never really found a position to play and excel in.

No I don't "think a couple of good games means prem proven "

I think the many good games he had means prem proven.

You should have opened your eyes, you'd have seen a class player.

Aqua should be given the chance. Bearing in mind his actual cost, not something I would rely on, his talent, he is a very good footballer, he must be able to achieve more than the present midfield, especially in the form of scoring goals. Ramirez has been mentioned her before ad nauseum, he speaks the same language as another little person up front. I don't think that no matter how much we would want them and get them, the Hazards of this world ain't coming to us next year. So, let's see what we can get, let them prove to the big guns that their choices of going to other clubs was a bid fat mistake, and get up the league. YNWA JimmyThe

The Aqua problem is one that can't be resolved. We should release him from his contract. I wouldn't mind Cole back he's done very well in France and his fitness has held up.

Aqua isn't a problem, he's a solution.

Boom boom.
