Time will tell...he'll either be brilliant, or absolute rubbish...no in between...

At least he speaks a form of Engwish...

Only thing I'm bothered about right now is getting back to the championship. This is a Wednesday forum.....England has its own if you want to talk about them!

WTF has he got to discuss with Tewwy and Wio, other than their non-selection for the Euros? I had faith that Woy would signal a changing of the guard.

Hmmm....

I think we have to move away from the Terry or Rio theme.
They've each had their chance, it caused two 'camps'
I have no idea who, but someone who can bring the squad/team together on the pitch.
Above all, I'd like to see every player enthusiastic & at least appear to be trying, even when getting beaten by a more skilled side,
Lets hope Hodgson can at least instill commitment & a desire to win if nothing else, as opposed to the perceived, 'reluctant - careless attitude'
of previous teams under Fabio.
I think Hodgson will be tougher on the 'slackers'.

And I'd like to see a revival of playing games at Old Trafford & St James' Park besides Wembley. As I am one of those who believes 'Northern' support is better than the mediocre enthusiasm shown at Wembley.

Shib .
You might be onto something there !
That might be exactly what he's wanting to tell them

Just concentrating on Town going up for now, but come June I won't give a dam who's on the touchline as long as England win.

Hope that I'm wrong but I think that Hodgson will be an absolute disaster, another McClaren in the making unfortunately. Just wait till the first bad result and it will be open season, the press will be on his back. I think the best that we can hope for is to not get too badly embarrassed at the the Euros and limp thru the next WC qualifying. Hopefully in a couple of years time Pardew, Rodgers or Adkins will be ready to make the step up along with a good bunch of youngsters coming through. The silence from the current players is deafening. More bothered about my beloved Owls at the moment tbh.

I think he could be an other Bobby Robson, now we be all happy wi that.

posted on 1/5/12

If he is to make any impression he needs to inform Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Crouch, Upson, and any other England has been that they are history.

We have some excellent young English players, he needs to start rebuilding around Wilshere, with Hart, Cahill, Walker, Gibbs, Richards, Jones, Smalling, Walcott, Lennon, Welbeck, Oxalde-Chamberlain, Rooney, Young all there to be included.

Someone said on the old 606 that they'd rather see Wednesday win a throw-in in their own half than see England win the world cup. I'm beginning to agree with that.

posted on 1/5/12

Izzy Eckaslike,
We must find this person immediately.
I would never want Wendies to win a throw-in.

Hastha, any appointment to the England role comes with guaranteed media vilification, Maclaren was rounded on by the red tops in spectacular fashion,Taylor, Sven, Hoddle, Keegan even the late Sir Bobby Robson - they all got it in the neck from journos who never played the game and spend their time in corporate boxes eating prawn sarnies. Its a question of WHEN it will happen for the unfortunate incumbent of the role rather than WHEN. Woy will be no different.

IMO he's got the greater level of management skills than 'Arry will ever acquire.

Heavenly, completely agree.

Wiverpool wans whink woy's a w-nker, but hey at least he's an Englishman and not another useless Foreigner.

Even though he's still a Southerner, I reckon he's as much chance as anyone else of bringing some much needed to success to the international scene.

In Woy I Trust.

It's not the most imaginative of appointments, but it is a safe pair of hands.
There were probably other contenders:
Redknapp we know about, but what about Pardew, Atkins, Allardyce.
I thought that Redknapp was always risky, due to skeletons in the cupboard.
Pardew has Premier League experience and has done well so far with Newcastle.
Atkins has no Prem experience, but does that matter!?
Still a good manager.
Allardyce. England would be hard to beat, but maybe boring.

Perhaps a little too soon for some of these contenders.

maybe Murdoch will back off now he's under the cosh a bit..

It doesn't matter how boring or what they sound like, all they have to do is get 15 lads together and coordinate them into a hard working skillfull unit...if the Germans can do it, and the blimming Spanish, it can't be that hard can it ?

I'm thinking on the same lines as,
Heavenly &
Shib.

New young blood,
A fresh start,
On paper, those young guns listed by Heavenly look good.
Can they be moulded into a cohesive unit. ?

Roy's not adverse to public exhibitions of
I think with the right backroom staff to back him up, he will make sure all the 'ego's' are kept in line.

Here's to hoping we are onto a winner with this guy.

Don't know why you posted this on the Wednesday board 'Darn', I'm confused? You been on the XXXX again?

Not sure about Mr H, he seems to do well with the 'smaller' clubs. The Liverpool job was a disaster and I thought he'd have done really well there.

I agree with the others who would like the young and fresh talented players to become the team. New manager, new team, new belief!

I wear 4 x XXXX LV so why not

Seriously,
I wanted to included the 'Owls' fans as , in my view, we've had a good relationship with them this season (in the main) They respond in kind, uncanny in their similar 'outlook' to us Town fans...England issue, not a divider regards to league 1 topics, & I thought it would 'add' to the content.

Interesting to your view that 'The Liverpool job was a disaster'....from his point of view it was, 'they' couldn't wait to get shut of him, However,
Dalglish' equivalent number of games, after taking over from Roy were.
WORSE.
'Your mate MIRF' would confirm this with stats.
Dalglish has carried on in the same vein, that being NO improvement, Yet still holds the job.

So. from your last paragraph, Your with
Heavenly,
Shib,
Me & Thee ....

btw guy's !
If your going to take the 'peace' out of him...
Please at least be accurate ?
He wolls his argh's .....not his 'L's' 'F's' & 'T's' dear oh dear Mirf, I'll have to mark you darn for that indiscwetion ....

I see the Newspapers have picked up on my Early Lead on Ja 606 by refewwing to him as Woy .. A bit embarrassing really as the're really doing a number on it and him today ..

Will he do well .. ? .. Who knows ~ Certainly his rather gentlemanly demeanour will fit nicely with the 'Suits' who run England Football ..

A Sense of Adventure .. ? NO I think we can forget that .. More of a Steady Eddie type .. A Slightly Dull Guy in many respects who rarely shows much passion .. Not given to bursts of pique ..

Yeah .. Might suit England at this time .. Will he reign for four years NOT A FRIGGIN CHANCE !! Am I bovvered~ Not Really .. Its a bit like Cricket ~ Run by Toffs ..

& right on cue.....I'm disappointed ?

The 'meeting' t'ween himself,
Terry & Ferdinand....'to iron out' ,

I was hoping it was to tell them, 'thanks. but no thanks'
so at this stage, maybe more of the same...ho hum.

request Boots !
Shall we have a Town fans FA cup final thread ?
