How is it overrated?

If you made it goalscorer of the season it has to be RVP,a catalogue of spectacular goals,rather than one offs, otherwise it as to be Cisse's goal last night at Chelsea.

Cisse's goal, for me, was luck over judgement.
He laced it, and hoped for the best.
Crouch's and Suarez's goals were both better, as they seemed to be scored by design, rather than outrageous fortune.

You can help to think that Crouch and Cisse goals had a little of luck in them. Even both players looked shocked and surprised!
Ben Arfa and RVP were 100% skilfull!

Ben Arfa's goal would have been better had he actually had to BEAT any players... they all just stood off him.

Still a great goal.

Just not a contender for "Goal of the Season"

Who gives a $hit if the goal has an element of luck? It makes 0 difference in my eyes. Van Bastens goal in the Euros, an element of luck that the crosser over kicked it. Zidanes goal in the CL final, element of luck that the crosser hoofed the ball in the air and hoped it would fall to someone.

Ben Arfa just ran through a succession of p!$$ poor challengers, and put the ball away.
Dont think he had to deviate from running in a straight line for about 60 yards.

Worthy of mention but not of winning it: Valencia v Blackburn.

I remember thinking Zidane's goal in the CL final was going in before it even left his foot.

He just had his balance and positioning all right.

(I'm not even claiming this to be any great insight on my part by the way.)

Humour me, tell me why you think it is overrated, nobody else seems to.

The more you look at it, the more you have to say, Suarez's goal is the stand out goal.
P!$$ing down rain, sodden pitch, and an inch perfect, measured chip from around 50 yards.
Goal of the season.
