Hope you're going on all right Terraceman. The one non-footballing thing I remember about Phil Annable was that if you wanted to keep your money you didn't play cards with him. In the dark days of 70-71 when the Albion were nearly liquidated, 3 mates of mine and myself used to travel to away matches on the team coach ( we paid for the privilege). There was always a card school going with the players on the coach and Phil a brilliant card player was never out of pocket. He was a brilliant player too and if we'd've had someone like him and also the likes of Micky Allsop, playing for us last season, things would have been very different I think.

Yes i travelled occasionally on the players coach and that was always the case Annable winning at cards !
We certainly do with someone of that mould now.
As a young lad I was walking to the ground one night match with my scarf on when a car pulled up and offered me a lift to the ground which i accepted,took me a few minutes to realise it was Micky Allsopp ! he took me into meet the players in the changing rooms too ! My mates saw me and were dead jealous i remember.
Fat chance of that happening today !
