Serial and Batmanu are notorious WUM's. I have filtered them too.
Yep well guessed Mr Chelsea re Batmanu
This article is a complete waste of time to be honest, no offence.
Far to much to read which could be summed up in one sentence.
"Personally I prefer to use the filter, even though it may not be appropriate for other users"
Sheeesh that's a bloody exam essay

Little Pea always writes long articles and comments, it's his style
He doesn't like to miss anything out in his argument and likes to fill in all the cracks. I like it.

I think your absolutely right, it's entirely up to you who you filter and the only people who moan and whinge about the filter are indeed the absolute plebs who are filtered on mass. I actually like a good and well thought out wum but sadly they are few and far between!
Serial and batmanu are not wums, they are pond life sucking life out of the world!
Mr Chelsea I didn't realise that was an innuendo!
The Wonderfully Sweet Little Pea
Serial is a changed man now. He's only takes part in serious footballing discussions. I'd recommend you unfilter him so as to not miss out on his knowledge of our beautiful game.

Oh no wonder a scouser is crying, Batmanu is probably the best poster from the Arsenal board because he actually discusses football and doesn't act immaturely like most of them there. He offers good debate as well, and just because he has negative views about your club that must make him pond life? Grow a pair please.
Hey Pea
Someone once asked me to ask you why you had filtered them. I didn't really see the harm in asking you the question and I did it in a very reasonable way
The result was you filtered me too. I never really understood that to be honest
The only thing I would add is that if the filter system is overused, the debates will diminish. So far, as far as I am aware, only you and Captain Positevety have ever filtered me so I have been able to add to discussion threads but there was one or two or your threads once upon a time that I wanted to add to (not directly to you but someone else who was on one of your threads) and I was unable to do so
For me, that is where the filter system breaks down. As long as you don't get to see what i write on a thread you created, I see no reason why someone else shouldn't be able to read it
I genuinly believe there would be far more debatable threads if the filtering system wasn't in place. A one match ban type of system is far better in my opinion
Just my take
Plus I do accept my long article curse
@UnitedRedMacca - You are twisting what actually happened there I'm afraid as people who get filtered often do. You didn't simply ask why have you filtered X, you abused me after I replied nicely, saying something like 'I think you're pretty pathetic/sad for filtering'. Given that I decided to filter you as it was totally uncalled for. However as I said in my article you generally contribute well, so I unfiltered you some time later to see if that was just a one off.
Its a public forum and people shouldn't be excluded from it by any individual..... unless the mods think otherwise.
Filtering system in the wrong hands is the worst part of this forum sometimes.
Does anyone else think the site should have an 'off topic' or 'general' board?

I can assure you I did nothing of the sort
I never had any beef with you to warrant doing that
I made a simple request on behalf of another poster and you actually deleted the request. I was left baffled at the time. If I had abused you in anyway, I would not have had any problem with you filtering me.
I would check back but like I said, you deleted my request
I think it was DependableDennis who asked me to ask you
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL
WUM!
I have no problem with people being able to filter out content they don't want to see, and therefore no problem with the existence of a filtering system the principle. However, preventing other people from commenting is different, and I'm not so sure it is fair to censor people from commenting on your threads just because you don't personally want to read their views.
Maybe banning / sin binning posters would be a better system, but I don't think it is realistic to expect the moderators to have the resources to do this effectively and consistently on a free website that doesn't have any revenue streams. I think they do as good a job as possible right now.
So I'd keep the filter system but advocate tweaking it so that it only affects what the filtering users themselves see, not what content the filtered users can see / reply to. Two possible positive consequences of this would be a) less excessive filtering happens because users are curious about comments on their own threads that they may be missing and b) people wouldn't necessarily have to know they have been filtered, so we don't get self-indulgent 'why has X filtered me?' posts.

Man City fan in peace.
Filter anyone you like and don't worry about it, it's your prerogative. I only wish the facility had been available on BBC 606.

Maybe it was an unfortunate case of mistaken identity / misunderstanding. You're both good posters: I think it's time for the two of you to make up. Maybe do a karaoke duet together... The Girl Is Mine? 'I think I told you, Macca, I'm a lover not a fighter.' Something along those lines?
