Yes, lets buy him at any cost, on top of the 2 world class midfielders we need. Not to mention a new world class left back because Evra's past it. Oh, and a world class right back as well.
Didnt Atletico pay over £20mil for him only last summer?
A club of our size, plus with 3/4 years left to run on his contract, he'd cost a ridiculous amount.
Plus, Welbeck has been amazing this season, jsut lacking in the goals department which Im sure will come in time.
If Llorente scored a hatrick in the 2nd half, you'd be saying we should sign him.
We have more urgent issues than the striking department.
Most of our creative play comes from our wingers. We just need someone deadly to finish them off. Falcao is single handedly destroying a team that destroyed us tonight. Berbatov is leaving, and he would be a brilliant (and more reliable) replacement.
Our problem hasnt been a lack of goals though this season ahs it?
Isnt this our highest scoring league season since the Prem started or something like that? Even in our CL campagin, we socred plenty, 3-3, 2-2 etc. Against Athletic, we scored 3 in 2 ties which would usually see us through
Our problem has been our defence and our inablity to control games agaisnt half decent teams
Yeah, I agree that we've scored plenty this season but not when it mattered. 1 against City, 1 in Bilbao, 1 in Basle. And imagine if Rooney got injured? Would you really trust Welbeck and Hernandez to lead the line? I'm not convinced with Hernandez and while I used to slate Welbeck, i'm beginning to see what he can bring to the team but I reckon we're a good 2 seasons away from him being able to lead the line in the biggest games. Falcao is the kind of player who can and will score against anyone, usually in the most high pressured of situations and can create goals out of nothing. Have you seen his goals tonight? Amazing.
The problem isnt the striekrs though, we could have Falcao, Llorente, Cavani, take you pick but in the games you mentioned, our midfield couldnt keep the ball. The striekrs were starved of any service
We need to address our midfield before anything else
If he does go hell go to the wastelands as they would pay silly money to stop us or anybody else getting him......in fact this will happen to all uniteds targets as city are still bitter and hate united that much
he cost them 40 million Euros, they would want to get at least another 20 on top of that to consider it surely?
He is class but would cost more than Torres.... We don't pay those prices.
I'm happy with Welbeck and Rooney... I reckon Danny will hit 20 next season
I think it just comes down to how much money we actually have. If we have it we should pay it because we're competing against City now and youth players and bargain signings just aren't going to cut it.

-----------------------------------------------------------
We pushed City all the way with our current squad and saw off Chelsea AND City last season.
Why do people want us to become a Galactico side when we have been so successful with a blend of youth and experience.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs will strengthen and City will learn from their dip in form this season and spend more money to shore up any weaknesses. I'm not saying we;re suddenly going to drop out of the Champions League places but we'll find it harder to win the league next season if we don't add big name players.
City will only get better.

We can still compete by signing talented players who aren't big names yet. While I would love a big name signing, we've done brilliantly by buying players on the verge of becoming a great player.

Why do they have to be "big name" signings? As long as the players we bring in are good enough and what we actually need, why does it matter if they're a big name or not?

I completely disagree with this. Over the past 5 seasons our only attacking talent who was developed by us was Ronaldo. We are good at spotting good defenders but attackers, no. We have to start accepting the fact that City are not going to go away and they are only going to get stronger and considering how strong their squad is now it is a scary sign compared to our squad.
We need 3 quality signings, 2 in CM and one striker. Our play has been lacking because of the lack of speed, quality and power in the middle of the park and has shifted our ENTIRE attack to the wings. We have become very one dimensional and it has become alot easier to defend against.
If I could choose who I wanted I would pick:
Muniain (Athletico Bilbao) 19 years old and is a Silva type of player and oozes quality and has many great years ahead of him.
Falcao (Atletico Madrid) 26 years old and is a complete striker. He has it all and would be a perfect strike partner for Rooney.
Fellaini (Everton) 24 years old and is the type of muscle and brawn we need in the middle of the park that can drive our team forward.
As has been stated, would cost more than torres. Moved for 35 mil last year. Also he is very much just a finisher. Thats a lot of money for a hernandez type of player no matter how much they insert the ball in the net.
Fergie would never buy, stubburn old man never buys anyone, we need World Class players, especially in CM!! At least 7 players needed to win the PL next year.
Fergie out.

Nani, Welbeck, Chico, Valencia, Rooney..... All have improved here, since arrival.
Why would Falcao leave? He has said he is happy at Madrid.
We're losing the title on goal difference because of the defensive side of the team not lack of goals. We've scored about the same as City have with Aguero, Tevez/Balotelli/Dzeko, Nasri and Silva.

It's amazing the amount of people who fail to recognize this.
Whilst I do agree that it wouldn't hurt to have a player who could add a bit more creativity from midfield and not the wide areas, our biggest problem is defensively because the defence doesn't get the protection it needs from the midfield.
The other problem we have is our inability to retain possession and keep it when we're put under pressure by sides with an aggressive pressing game. As soon as a team puts us under the slightest bit of pressure, we give the ball away either with a sloppy pass or by getting outmuscled by one of the opposition players.
These are IMO the two areas which most require improvement.
