O'dear.... thanks for the info!

Rio is still class should be a guaranteed starter this summer!

I am sorry but I don't think Jones will ever make it as a CB, not at United anyway. The new O'shea

Every team needs an O'Shea type player tho.
My only problem with Jones is that he is a 19yr old o'shea so he doesn't even have experience on his side.

where do you think Rio was when he was 19?

Jones will probably become one of the greatest ever CBs this county has seen.

No he won't we have spent 16m (or what ever it was) on O'shea

Seriously I'd prefer Carrick at the back over Jones at this point.

that says more about you than Jones.

At the moment (i stress at the moment) Jones certainly isn't a centre back, he could be brilliant in that position in time but he makes far to many basic and glaring mistakes for me, what's slightly worrying is that a lot of people outside of United seem to think he should play centre back for England, despite the fact that he's only the 3rd best english centre back at United

And 5th choice CB at United can't see him getting too many games at CB when the beast returns!

I know mate, this summer him and SAF need to have a sit down and talk about where he feels most comfortable and where the manager wants him to play and start to mould him into that position, it would be a shame if he became a jack of all trades squad player, never really making a consistent impact on the first team and then gets sold to Everton ,Sunderland or Hull when he's 30 for 3 million.

hes 19 and it was his first season . Have you written him off already?

posted on 12/5/12

I would like to see him go out on loan next season. I would hate to think we have wasted so much money on a jack of all trades . If he doesn't make it as a CB then I think the only other position for him is as a DM, just not at full back

And RBW he's 20

you have confirmed my suspicions. You are an idiot.

Stick to La Liga.

I don't think he's a waste. He has potential but I don't think that's good enough to be chosen for some of our biggest matches this season.

sorry for not thinking EVERY United player is world class. Jones won't get too much first team football next season, so when he does play he will play where ever he needs to. He needs to play consistently in the same position. Hence why I said I think he should go out on loan

La Liga

so, if you're not world class you are not good enough for United.

You are crazy.

I respectfully disagree.

I never said that (scroll up for proof) I am just saying I don't rate Jones, I don't see what everyone else sees in him. Not my fault . You should never insult someone for giving an opinion

I don't think that's what Ozil is trying to say. From what I read he's saying that Jones will just be used as a "filler" player in different positions when regulars are injured/suspended. And that may prove to be a problem if he wants to excel at a specific position.

I don't agree that he should be loaned out tho. He must make a decision on what position suits him best and concentrate on perfecting it at Utd.

what TF does this mean then?

I actually agree with Ozil Eyes. You have to remember, when he first came he was hailed some new English Hero, without well even going to battle. His price-tag is nothing out of the extra-ordinary, and then we have Sir Alex, a few English Managers and Capello comparing him to the greatest Centre-Backs to play the game.

It got absolutely ridiculous and a majority of us bought it. All of a sudden Phil Jones was seen as a starter, but for what?! How disrespectful was that to someone like Evans who was automatically told he was 5th choice, behind Smalling too. I'm so pleased that Evans is a first choice Centre-back, always had faith.

Regarding Phil Jones, he's young, naive, 20 years old, and he's got a good few years to learn the trade, find his positions, and even got years to become World-Class there too. However, for now he is nothing but a utility player. What annoys me the most is that he just gets put in the first XI when players who apply their trade in that position are fit and available sitting on the bench.

This Summer Sir Alex should just ask him, where do you feel most comfortable, and that's that. He's got to earn his position, not throw it at him, because us as the English media can't do nothing but big up English players, as if they're going to dominate world football.

If we weren't so injury ridden every season, and our defenders never wear out mid-way through, I would suggest send him on loan somewhere. Phil Jones is no special player, Fabio is going to do it, Cleverley has, Wellbeck has, and so on. What makes Jones the exception?

Some of our fans just don't understand football.

What are Jones' weakness'? His positioning and his decision making.

Find me a 19 year old centre back who doesn't have this problem.

Well some are better than others at 19. smalling was better. The more serious problem is his jumping ability. He gets beaten by any half decent jumper. United's defence is highly dependent on aerial ability.
