Both Bale and Modric are under contract so will not be going anywhere. End of discussion.

It is not up to them whether they go, Daniel Levy holds all the trump cards.

Sandy...

Only if stupid money is offered could we even consider either of these two leaving. £40m plus each, nothing less!!!

>>acknowledge that we've finished fourth, and that only extenuating circumstances have prevented us from playing in the CL - and therefore opt to stay?

I think this is irrelevant

They either are staying regardless of a CL position or leaving if you're not in a CL spot.

extenuating circumstances is neither here nor there

I could see one or the other being allowed to leave but definitely not both, and preferably not either!

Modric kicked up such as fuss last summer if he did it again I wouldn't be surprised if we took a big offer. I reckon Bale would stay for another season at least unless Real came in for him. Barca struggled cough up for Fabregas.

Modric and Bale just want CL football. They won't care that we'd have been unlucky to not get it having finished 4th. If they want to leave, then our league position won't make a difference sadly.

Them wanting Champions League football won't make that much difference to us either, not unless we get an offer we cant refuse + Levy tax.

Bale could go for huge money - we'd have enough for Hazard and maybe one or two more. If Modric is going to sulk again it's better if he goes. No-one's bigger than the club

Bale's do you honestly think we could get Hazard with no CL? Hell even with CL it would be very difficult. Plus we'd have to wait later than normal to confirm that we'd get through the qualification stages. City have gone and made themselves that little bit more an attractive proposition after today too.

The bad thing is that however much we'd get for Bale or Modric, we're already needing to get in many new faces, and this would make the situation worse.

is adebayour back next year?

Hazard isn't completely beyond us - he's stated he's got to have first-team football wherever he goes as he's still developing. He wouldn't be guaranteed that at City, Barca or Real so I don't see why not.

The basis of the squad is there for a few years, we desperately need a new striker and CB but aside from that we've got a lot of options really. Maybe a good young goalkeeper, but they're not easy to come by. It's all going to hinge on the CL... CMON BAYERN!!!

I personally think we'll need 2 new strikers and 2 CB's, given our injury record at the back and the fact King, Gallas and Nelson are nearing the end. I suppose Caulker is a choice. We certainly could do with getting more up n coming players. Then yeah another goalkeeper will be on the agenda sooner than later. All that without thinking about replacements for Mod and Bale should they go.

I'll find it hard to believe if we get Hazard with City and others showing an interest, and if they have CL over us. Odds surely stacked against us.

Sounds good to me Don

If Ledley's operation works out he'd be great to have around the place, otherwise it could be curtains for him too

Cheer up spurtle, we had a great run last time round

Even if we don't get it we've had a good season - who would've predicted Chelsea would finish sixth and be in the final??

I wouldn't be worried in the slightest if we started next season with Caulker alongside Kaboul, in fact i'd be delighted. But yes, we obviously need at least one signing there.

spurtle, if bayern win i will be dancing with joy and over the moon, I don't care about the qualifying stages mate. We will be the strongest team in that qualifying stage and we won't have a problem getting through it mate, especially if we sign some players quickly rather than waiting until the last minute like usual. I think Levy is waiting patiently on the bayern outcome, hopefully once bayern win then we can start planning our transfers. If we make CL i think it's going to be an exciting summer, levy knows we have to go for it.

Bale's sorry I can't help but reflect on what could have been. It's a good season I guess.

Shearer and Hansen were discussing our season on MOTD with differing opinions on how well we did. I side more with Hansen in that we should have done better.

My mood will change of course if Chelsea lose :D

Don I wish I had your confidence on the whole CL qualifying thing, but I will nevertheless be excited about it, and if Bayern win I will meet you on the other side of the moon.
