gerrard and lampard a whey past their best, unfortunatley there is nothing else left to play those positions unless you think scholes can put his zimmer to one side, maybe lamps can continue making those runs from midfield but gerrard has no chance

The England team should be built around Gerrard and Lampard.

On a side note, not really bothered who plays.

All i'm bothered is that this is the final tournament of the useless bunch of England hopefuls that have bottled championships after championships.

In fairness to Gerrard he's been playing with Spearing and Henderson all season so has had his work cut out and been playing too deep. Having said that his injuries is a concern and he's on a downward spiral.

I know it is an impossible ask, but if you could be objective about Cole, surely you have to admit he is still top draw and the best LB in England.

He is the one player from your list who for me lived up to his billing in an England shirt and is still worthy of his place in the starting line up

Yes, i do admit it. But the simple fact is we need new fresh talents coming through and the older players are standing in the way.

How old is Cole? 32-33? Can't really see him for the WC. Like i said, this tournament i'll give him a final fling, but we really need to blood new talent.

It's a shame that Wilshere is injured. As it stands the best performing English CM's recently have been Scholes and Carrick. Also their ability to play together would be a good thing for England as it's about producing as much as a cohesive unit in a short space of time as possible.
There's nothing worse at international level than seeing a great team sheet but one that constantly can't play properly together. Therefore Gerrard & Lampard combo

I think that Gerrard will get picked for the simple fact that there are no decent alternatives.

For a supposedly world class player I´ve never seen Gerrard do anything of note in an England shirt and I don´t expect that to change anytime soon.

Yes Gerard will get picked and yes he will be in the starting 11 and yes England will fail to do anything at the the Euros.

Pretty much all of Gerrard´s goals at international level were scored against weaker opposition.

Apart from that 5-1 thrashing of Germany back in 2001 I can´t remember Gerrard scoring an important goal for England.

Gerrard is a has been hasn't done anything in a while but him and Rooney are Englands golden boys
