I take it i'm not the only dissapointed football fan reading this.
Time to play Bairstow. Bresnan has started the season stronger than Finn, so I think they'll go
Strauss
Cook
Trott
KP
Bell
Bairstow
Prior
Broad
Bresnan
Swann
Anderson
I agree with serial - looks a very good team
right on the nose serial but it's at Lords so they may go for Finn but I hope not.
Tremlett is injured :S
and i would pick Finn over Bresnan as i feel he will be more effective against the South Africans..........
Shame it's against the west Indies
But what would be the point in playing somebody in a warm up series if your not planning on playing them later on in the series??? use your brain.....
and yes i know it's not actually a warm up series but come on like there gunna beat us
We mustn't forget Onions who's been red hot for Durham since he recovered after that long injury break. Broad was far off the pace for Notts in the last game.
There's no way they'll drop Broad.
I'd like to see Onions back though.
Are we not calling Swann an allrounder now?
Enlighten me, what is he lacking in that department?

A defence.
I don't think his batting is steady enough to call him an allrounder.
He can hold a bat & he has saved us in the past with his aggressive hitting but i would still call him a bowler who can bat than an all rounder
A defence? Did you ever see Sir Ian Botham prod a ball?
Swann is no Botham!! Come on, he's not an allrounder but an aggressive tail ender
I wouldnt call him a genuine tailender. Effectively he is a bowler who bats...
Swann is a classic stand and deliver batsmen with no footwork. If the delivery is in his area he'll give it a whack. When it comes off it's great.
Interesting point.
Swann's test batting average is 22.0 (bowling 28.0)
Broad's is 28.3 (31.2)
Bresnan's is 40.4 (24.1)
So on the classic definition, that an all rounder has a higher batting average than bowling average, no he's not.
On the same definition, neither is Broad though. I think I was just influenced by my personal view that there's still a lot of batting improvement to come from Broad, whereas Swann's the finished product.
its worth noting that Swann is not the type of player who will go out and score a 150 like Broad was done in the past, to rescue England.
Swann is more like the type of player that will score you a quick 20-30.
I'd liken Swann to a Brett Lee/Shane Warne whereas Broad is more in the Shaun Pollock mould
Why isn't Chanderpaul higher up in the batting...?
