Spot Fixing In The IPL?

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The IPL is the most attractive competition for bookmakers. The BBCI will do their utmost to sweep any evidence under the carpet to prove their beloved IPL is whiter than white.

I hope that this is not true but let's be honest with ourselves, cricket in the sub-continent is rife with illegal gambling & it's probably going on all of the time during competitions such as the IPL

Fair point, but lets not forget the essex case earlier this year, fixing happens all around the world and should be stopped. Agree however, that its more prevalent in the sub-continent.

Do we know exactly which players/incident they are referring too? I think those uncapped players are just 5^h!t, so no spot fixing needed

Anyway, not a fan of IPL. Cant wait for Thursday, the English summer of cricket begins.. the bujoos first up, followed by the saffers

Munaf Patel bowled 3 No Balls and a wide in the same offer.

Your lucky to get 1 No ball in an entire innings in 20/20 let alone 3 in 1 over.

Afridi you love referring to the Essex case in order to mitigate the Amir affair but even at Essex it was a Pakistani player who made all the arrangements.

Individuals may get done but nothing will happen about the underlying issue as to how illegal bookmaking is a practice in India. That bit will get brushed under the carpet by BCCI, ICC and the Indian government.

Hopefor, that was the intention. There is no doubt that the sub-continent teams are involved or have more potential to be involved in spot fixing than other teams, but lets not kid ourselves and aknowledge the fact that it needs to be wiped out world-wide.

I meant that was NOT the intention - ohh dear

guys stop misquoting. there is no spot fixing in the ipl. there are players that have been allegedly part of spot fixing in the domestic tournaments that are taking part in the ipl. the sting operation haent shown any video evidence of the players asking for money. they have just shown pictures with someone talking. I mean i wouldnt be suprised if this was true, but there no evidence what so ever, and to clarify again there has been no spot fixing in the IPL

Essex case involves a Pakistan so how can that serve to deviate attention.

i can tell u. everyone has been part of fixing. even u would have done the same in that situation. It is a clean fact, and when we actually get to know this we get emotional and bla bla bla.
just take this for instance. u know ur place is in danger since ur poor form. u know this could be ur final game. someone comes to u, and says bowl one no ball for me. I will give 10000 pounds. The first thing that will come up in ur mind is, its just a no ball. no one is going to know. and i will get 10000 for just bowling a no ball. easy money. That is how people get trapped into this. anyone can get trapped.

the boards and bcci shud have strict rules. they should be allowed to look at bank accounts of the players and see where the money is coming from

Asif and Amir were definitely not in a situation that u have mentioned Viru.
Anyways, the ICC should look to destroy this ugly phenomenon from its roots like urging govts to legalize gambling and consequently unusual bettings can easily be traced like bowling a noball at a specific juncture of the game and hence spot fixing can be eliminated.
The phenomenon is so pervasive that ICC have to look beyond the boundary of just banning player.

In response to your post- I quote Imran Khan who said that non-international players have earned more from playing in IPL then he earned from his matches in his entire lifetime. If this exists, then vigilance is certainly a problem as was the case with Pakistani players.
