Reina, Agger, Lucas, Johnson, Skrtel, Alonso, Luis Garcia, Benayoun, Riera, Aurelio, Crouch, Alonso, Torres etc were all great for us.

Macherano could barely get into the West Ham team when we signed him, let's not forget that.

as i said initally, given the number of signings he made at least a couple had to be good.

luis garcia, benayoun, riera, aurelio, crouch, great signings? ha ha ha ha. next joke please.

Garcia is a legend, aurelio was good but injured far to much, reira was good in the 08/09 season the other 2 were alright

Torres may not have been a great find or a bargain but in every other way, he was an extremely succesful signing.

...............

That isn't in question.

It just wasn't a genius signing. Just like it wasn't a genius signing for Mancini with Aguero. Everyone apart from you knew about them.

Now, Lucas might just go on to be a genius signing.

jesper blomqvist was good for one season and diego forlan has been afforded cult status, but neither of those have gone down as 'great signings'.

Reina has been great for you. Alonso was a great player, as was Torres for two seasons. Mashereano was good, but not great. Agger has mostly been injured.

The rest were not great Fred, by even your stupid stretch of imagination.

The reason why you are in 8th is because your players are not as great as you thing they are. This is why yopu keep getting ridiculed, often by some of your own fans.

I think you are a bit of a dunce when it comes to football knowledge.

How can taking a risk on a player who was young, had never played abroad, couldnt speak the language, and then for that player to go on and become the most marketable player in the Prem, become a fans favourite, break records, score goals for fun, almost win them the league single handedly and then making the club £25mil from his eventual sale not be a genius signing?

Jsut because he wasnt plucked from thin air, doesnt mean it cant be deemed a genius singing. Torres was probably more important for Liverpool on and off the field as Ronaldo was for us

I've seen a lot more of those players than you so again your judgement is invalid.

Fred

Stop being a twonk.

I actually find it hard to take you seriously sometimes.

Crouch, Agger, Lucas, Johnson, Skrtel, Luis Garcia, Benayoun, Riera, Aurelio, Crouch, great signing my a-rse.

Some were good signings some were ok. None were great.

You listed virtually a team of "great' (can't stop laughing) signings that actually won nothing.

because a handfull of other clubs wanted to make the same signing, it wasn't a national secret of how good he will be.

The same as if De Gea turns out to be as good as VDS, it will not be a genius signing from SAF because a lot of other clubs wanted him.

A genius signing is someone you get on the cheap, or cheapish, who nobody else has really shown intrest in and goes on to be a legend at the club.

Rafa did not spot the talent in Torres where no one else did. SAF was also after him, as were a few other clubs.

A genius signing, for lets say Liverpool would be Ian Rush, or Keegan.
