“Even the so-called big clubs in League One, like Huddersfield, can’t compete with Sheffield Wednesday in these sort of situations.”

Very happy with this one. We needed a few players who can cover different positions.

Those kind words makes us feel like Real or Barca dunnit,

Good signing this one. Shows Jones' intent on building a good squad and not just a good team.

You need good cover and competition for places, all the best teams have it.

You cant rely on one player for success because when he gets injured (or jailed) it leaves you totally screwed

I agree Poite, strength in depth is something we havent had for many a year really, its only since MM came in that we have been in a situation where we can strengthen, and now we are in the 2nd tier we can finally add some real quality to our squad for this level and we now are an attractive option for quilty players

Things are defo on the up

BTW that is no detriment on our current squad as they are quality player but we need to add players with both potential and also players who have had good experience at Championship level so we can progress further

Theres people who actually think we're going to sign Michael Owen. His wages would be more than our entire team! And he will spend 3 years on the treatment table.

As in the race horse owner?

Ha, its funny I said the exact same thing to my Collegue as we discussed his next move, I dont feel he can cut it in the premiership as much as he used to but he would a team a good job in the Championship if fit and who wouldnt like a player of his quality here?? but with his history of being a sicknote and us goin through the same senario with Jeffers I dont think it would be a wise move financially on our part

Forget the nags, Owen is minted already. He also has enough left in his legs to pick a club he wishes to play for. It wont be us and anyone who thinks it will be is madder than a Jonestown resident. He'll play for a club located within a 30 mile radius of Alderley Edge.

Or in China.

He's not started a game since 2010. He should hang his head at how his career has turned out.
On his twitter he says he's going for a holiday to contemplate his next move. He's been on holiday for two years!

BTW - Lee is a decent squad buy. We'll get him cheapish because his contract is running out. Good busines IMO

Nah, c'mon Prof he has been injured a lot for the last 3 years and at a club like Utd he was never gonna play every week, mind you though, something tells me he has lost a bit of drive to play as he has never banged Fergies door down and stated that he is unhappy at only playing a bit part, others would have probably requested a loan move for a bit of game time.

To be honest it would not suprise me if DJ made a move as he seems to like experienced strikers, take Robbie Fowler & JFH for example whilst at Cardiff.

I wouldnt mind him here as long as he gives assurences that he will stay fit and give his all...but in my view whilst it would be ambitous its not a realistic move and his wages would be daft for Championship level and Im sure MM wouldnt want to take a financial risk like that

He's not been crocked that much, he pops up on the bench all the time - just like he did the season before.
He's simply happy to pick up his money and watch horses trotting around a field.
It's a shame because he was good (ten years ago).

He's exactly the sort of reason I'm a social democrat. He does nothing but gets paid a fortune, whereas others bust their balls day in day out for peanuts.
Whoever offers him a contract is barmy IMO.

No I agree Prof for sure , on that basis I hope we dont make a move as he would command a weekly wage that all our squad would earn in a month put together and cripple us, esp if he keeps getting injured and we dont go up, plus, as Ive stated, he dosnt seem to be that bothered about playing which is a shame coz he has been one of the greats in terms of goalscoring.

He obviously has other ventures, like racehorses, so it seems that football isnt quite as important to him anymore

Come on, realistically, if the opportunity was there (which is definitely isn't and will never be) to get Owen signed up, would you?

Salesman; want to buy this professional footballer - its an original Michael Owen it has had several crashes and only runs off 3 cylinders but it did win a race once in its early days??

Punter; Oooh, yes perlease its exactly what i wanted, and when it breaks in one weeks time, I can lavish huge amounts on treatment to no avail.

Bystander (from Motherwell or Hibernian): (in thick lowlands accent) I overheard yer talking aboot this wee fella, when he's finished we'll tek him away from yer for a free. I see you ...

etc. etc.

I'm off to lace the Coolade with cyanide

Panic not , he says the championship is not an option fior him as he feels he can score at the highest level

He may aspire to L***s, but hark, aren't they locked in deadly rivalry with their near neighbours Manchester united? It would never happen would it?
