agree with much of that but my own opinion of watching him this season is that he is simply not good enough to be a first team regular. that said, he made good progress and maybe in the future he can be.
I would actually send him on loan to southampton or reading , let him play every week and see how he gets on.
Every team needs a player like Livermore, he can fit in in several positions. Gives 100% and can play a bit, Stevie Perryman was that type of player too, not the most skilful player in the team but made up for that with good passing, tackling and entusiam and energy. That is why he is a legend at Spurs, he not only wore the badge with pride (in the days before the mercenaries started kissing the badge
he also loved the club through and through.
In all honesty I could still see Livermore at Spurs in 10 years time, because he loves the club & does what he needs to do out on the pitch knowing full well there are others who will get the acclaim!

so can Jenas...
The one thing about Livermore he is not your usual overyped youngster coming through like the Ox for example, all hype and no substance. Livermore is just a good hard working honest professional, who gives his all, and is pretty good at what he does. No fuss. Just good solid performances.
All teams need players like that.
i think his passing is underrated.
he put defoe through for a goal a few weeks ago. great eye for the run, and perfect sliderule pass. i think he's got some class about him.
Morning Sandy................
You are correct, even the Spurs Double Team had players like Les Allen who worked their socks off in midfield.
You look at players like Graham Roberts, not the most skilful player we had but always gave 100% & could tackle a bus if necessary, was also a good passer of the ball, great in the air & won our hearts with his never say die attitude! Also the closest we have ever had to Dave Mackay.
The problem with Spurs fans these days is that their expectations are totally out of proportion. Not every player needs to be able to turn on a sixpence ala Modric, or hit a beautiful 50 yard inch perfect pass ala Huddlestone, or go past players with pace like Lennon or Bale. All team need a balance & that is why I rate Livermore and his value to the team is currently not recognised, but mark my words it will be over the next few years!

i dont mean this as a dig at chrnoic AT ALL, but i think that's a great post and i totally agree.
some posters (not chronic) seem to think we are going to sign the whole barcelona team over the summer. it's not going to happen - and i wouldnt want it to. i want to watch spurs develop as a team and a club. that means watching the youngsters being nurtured and developed into top players and the odd "mature tree" planted only where necessary. that's the way i see it anyway. dont get me wrong, id be really excited if we signed a couple of star names, but i also want to see us get the most out of the assets we already have. in the case of livermore and a few others, i think we have some classy players in this category, notwithstanding their lack of a specific 'take the breath away' skill.

Whether that will be as a PLAYMAKER CM, remains to be seen. And just to kill certain things dead now, being a playmaker doesn't means you have to be able to hit 50 yd laser-guided passes etc.

Isnt that part of the point though mate. I think some of us are saying that you dont have to have a central midfield which has 1 designated tackler and 1 designated distributor.
