PPD, that does seem to be the only plausible explanation really, and even at that I think the Americans are wrong if they're ruling out Rafa on those grounds.

The manager should have full control over how and on whom he wants the budget spent, with someone above him attempting to get the players for as close to three valuation as possible, whilst liaising closely with the manager.

Seems odd that the Americans weren't happy with Kenny's targets and the way Comolli got them in but are seemingly against the traditional structure, which would allow Rafa back.

I hope it's nothing to do with how Rafa stood up to the previous owners...

If this is the case then its one of the worst cases of cutting off your nose... examples I have ever known.

He has got a bit of history with the owners of Valencia and inter. Perhaps the players had some input on Rafa's suitability for the position.

There was always going to be some bad PR from sacking a LFC legend in Kenny. Perhaps they wish to avoid a similar situation with Rafa.

There is some fantastic quotes coming out from Rodgers, oh wait no there isn't.

Stop blaming the club for stuff the media are saying for christs sake.

It's becoming obvious the owners are damned whichever way they go about this. They're getting slated for having a long list of candidates with a varying degree of experience and backgrounds. They will then speak to them and see which one fits into what they want to achieve. Can anyone tell me what the hell is wrong with that? Why is everyone throwing tantrums with every name mentioned, even though it's only press speculation most of the time. I reckon I'm going to send some of you one of those Nigerian money scam emails, easy pickings!

I am in for a Rafa return but I don't think they will appoint him.

they are advised by Johan Cruyf and he is well known not to like rafa benitez stye of tactics.

Rogers is a good manager, like Roy H is, and far too good to go to a club where the appalling fans will abuse him and hound him from the get go.

Leeds fan calling us appalling! Really?

I can't believe people are already talking about the owners like this.

What next? Protests, Demonstrations, embarrassing videos fronted by Jimmy Corkhill

I get the impression that some of the lads on here want high calibre names. Can I ask who ? Can I also say that these men may have already confirmed their reluctance to manage to Liverpool.

Guys, you aren't as big a lure as you think. Serious investment is needed before you can challenge for the top 4.

Your board will be looking for someone with prem experience, someone to work on a smaller budget and someone who wont cost an arm and a leg. Some of the names mentioned here are ridiculous! Why would they leave teams in the champions league to join a team that is quite a way off getting in there?

Just trust the owners (who are undoubtably smarter than us lot) to make the right call for their business and your club instead of turning your nose up at suitable candidates.

KingLuis.

One of my "embarrassing ramblings of the past few days" as you put it, included me saying that I genuinely hope I'm proved wrong and people with blind faith in FSG like yourself are proved right, as that would put LFC back to it's rightful place at the top of the pile.
As see you've chosen to ignore that one.
