Class guy. To donate £96000 to the Hillsborough charity as well is a great gesture. He may have split opinion a bit in his last year amongst Liverpool fans, but that moment cemented his legend status even more in the club.
Its brilliant how this man stepped into our club as a normal manager and walked out a passionate liverpool fan. He clearly loves our club and deserves a second chance. IRWT
He never even put his house up for sale and said he will one day manage the club again.
The only man we could install and would take zero time to get to grips with things.
I bet he even has a transfer list drawn up for the new season!
lucas... knowing him he probably has the 4 2 3 1 formation waiting for us. And the return of zonal marking!

He will have the criticism ready for the players on their game against swansea and has already ordered his morning coffee....just in case!
i wonder how the media will react if he comes back though? he got a bit of a slating throughout his tenure
I got tears.when I saw this the first time,
He is there with our legend managers of shanks, Bob and King Kenny.
Wether FSG call on him or not Rafa was a blessing to our club and remains a legend. I don't think there will be a better memory for me as a reds fan than our run to our fifth European Cup. He's a bit to hot for FSG to handle.
that 2005 run made me so proud to be a red... dispatched leverkusen 6 2 on aggregate. But i think that quarter final against juve in Turin with a lot of injuries to the team help them out and got us to semi, was one of my proudest moments as a red (non finals and semi finals obviously).
I dont think he is too hard for FSG to handle, he just had frustration with Parry (who didnt, the curly haired baffoon!) and then with the ever diminishing transfer kitty of H&G.
he became vocal once the end was near because cecil kept messing around with the rules on what counted as transfer kitty and what didnt. This was obviously being forced by H&G as they wanted every last penny they could get for the club hence the ridiculous valuations they placed on it.
IF rafa comes back, rumour has david dein will step in as chief exec. a slick operator like that would actually work well with rafa in my opinion
If FSG's number one concern, is top 4, and champions league revenue, then I see very little other option than to bring Benitez back.
His record is outstanding, he knows the club inside out, and has established connections, and respect on an international level.
Bit of a no brainer for me.
You just worry, who exactly is advising FSG, as regards the prospective new manager, and whether these people truly have the best interests of our club at heart.
i think if rafa does come in, he will have to learn to keep a bit quieter about everything bar the actually football.
Great Article and totally agree.
Although i am shocked on finding out that there is now 3 lucas' on this site.
This video always sends a chill down my spine. The man is a true red.
I love Rafa, I'd love it if he came back, love it
Compare his passion Roy who replaced him, to the previous owners... The man will always be associated with Liverpool which is why other teams supporters can't seem to warm to him.
Imagine if we had a chief exec and others that knew their stuff and could get on with it all leaving Rafa to worry about just the team.. All his efforts into just focusing the team preparing them and coaching them and identifying his targets who would fit into his vision of the team.
Then let the rest of the staff worry about the financials, liaising with other clubs, salary caps etc etc
At this moment in time there's only one gaffer, and he's waiting to come home.
RAFA! RAFA-EL!
LFC tv currently showing the run to istanbul.
Wow.
When you look at the players Milan had, it becomes an even more remarkable achievement
Absolutely Darwin.
I also think though, had Chelsea gone through they would have beaten Milan because Crespo was on loan to Milan from Chelsea at the time.
My best time as a Liverpool fan. If it's not Rafa then I'll be very disappointed.
