That's right, Platini has a personal grudge with Tottenham
If I could describe this Article in one word (which I'm now going to), I would use this word:
BITTER
I'm sorry but they changed the rules because of English teams, not to help us.
Platini doesn't seem to like the English full stop!
Platini is a Baffoon, only Blatter makes him look like he has half a brain.
You can be sure that if Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona was suffering the same injustice as us, the rules would be changed like a shot.
Platini and Blatter are the same people!

How sure? Guarantee? You can put a guarantee on that? It is a fact where by he (Platini) has spoken out and said ''if this happened to United, Barca, or Real, I would change the rules for them!''
Proof? Source?
Anything? No?
Shut up
Well said
The truth is this -
It was unfair that Liverpool could not compete in 2005 but UEFA said the 'rules are the rules'.
It is unfair Spurs are denied in 2012 but the 'rules are the rules'.... apparently.
After a lobbying campaign, with the support of the FA, one the above got the rules changed within 2 weeks of the season finishing giving them - 'special dispensation'.
It wasn't Spurs..
"Proof? Source?" - Liverpool 2005
They were only allowed to enter after an emergency vote of the 16 man UEFA commitee pushing through new regulations - the 'Liverpool Rule'. The rules were absolutely clear at the time - Liverpool did not qualify for the CL.
well said RC
non-spurs fans keep saying how we knew the rules etc....yes we do. no denying it
doesnt change the fact the rules were changed before, but when we suggest it (no campaign from the club, not a word - id like them to say something) the fans, we are laughed at.
were liverpool laughed at then? maybe. cant remember but it worked
You can be sure that if Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona was suffering the same injustice as us, the rules would be changed like a shot.

We will never know this until such time as it happens. In which case, this makes this a silly comment.
We, (as in supporters), need to get over ourselves. Ffs, we, (team), blew it big style and now we're whinging like a bunch of girls....
Embarrassing much.....
Whether we're sounding like we're bad losers or whatever, any criticism of Platini is welcome. The guy is a t osser.
We won the CL so had the right to defend it like Chelsea do.
Lucas I agree you should have but in this extraordinary circumstances, surely it wouldn't be that much trouble to put both fourth and Champions League Winners in?
You ask if there's proof the rules would be changed, how about his statement regarding Juventus? Some will say it's a joke but the connotations are there.
And as others have pointed out the rules were changed pretty damn quick in 2005. So why suddenly can the rules not be looked at for another three years? Pathetic from UEFA, it's a disgrace.
It should be the same for you and chelsea as it was for us and Everton but both have to do qualifiers

Leaving aside our non qualification for the CL. What about Juventus. For match fixing, which is about as serious as it gets, they should have been demoted to the very bottom rung of Italian football, and given a 10 year ban from ever appearing in the top division, wherever they finished in the league. Also a twenty year ban from European football would have been an appropriate ban. In effect they were given a rap on the knuckles and are back as champions in less than half a dozen years. And they say UEFA does not protect the big boys.
No, they have not been punished, They know the rules, they should have been third and not fourth
I thought i read the other day about match fixing in italy again?
I can't believe Daniel Levy has just accepted this travesty to occur without a word let alone action. If Alan Sugar was still the owner he wouldn't have taken this lying down,he would have the court case lined up already.
Surely, the very least we should get is £15 million in compensation. However,i have come up with a fair solution. We should be allowed to play the lowest ranked club in the qualifiers and the winner takes the last place. This way we get through and the minnow we face get the biggest game in their history.Surely even Platini must see this is the fairest outcome!
The first bit is true...it hurts...but gotta move on.....
The second part...most likely a joke...but a very stupid thing too say....
Hod-forever-God
no it wouldn't be fair for spurs to play the lowest rank team the lowest rank team quailifed through their league fair and square why should they be punished because spurs lost out to chelsea winning the EC
i do agree however spurs should be allowed to quailify they finished 4th in their league
WHAT i don't agree with chelsea been allowed yes i know your going to say they won it so what they still didn't finish in the top 4
i know the rules states that if you win it you can defend it but it also states that if you finish in the top 4 you quailify i believe that if you win it or not unless you finish in the top 4 you cannot quailify but that's just my 2 cents worth
who am i to disagree with blatter and hes son
So lads you're not doing yourselves any favours here!
You knew the rules before you dropped points to villa, it was in your hands to finish 3rd.
It's more the hypocrisy that we're complaining about here Pride.
In 2005, Uefa couldn't change the rule quick enough for Liverpool. In 2012, it now takes 3 years for a rule change. Well how does that work?
Secondly the comment regarding Juventus. Not the smartest thing for the UEFA president to come out and say, somebody who is meant to be impartial and represent what is best for all clubs not just his favoured ones.
